Nigerians Killed Near Gaddafi’s Hometown by nolongtin(m): 10:04am On Oct 04, 2011 |
Three Nigerians, alleged to be fighting alongside the soldiers of the ousted Libyan leader, Col. Muamar Gaddafi, have been killed by the National Transitional Council fighters close to Sirte, the ousted leader’s hometown. Spain-based Hamada Radio International monitored in Kaduna on Monday listed the three Nigerians killed as 33-year-old Ugochukwu Okafor; Emeka Aloysius Mohammed, 33; and Braimoh Robinson Garba, 30. The report also claimed that the Nigerian Union in Libya alleged that the Nigerian government had abondoned its consular responsibility to evacuate stranded Nigerians in the war-torn North African country. The report said, “Some of the Nigerians were shown on a BBC programme presented by Zainab Bedawi over the weekend. Despite the recognition given the NTC by President Goodluck Jonathan, Nigerians and other black Africans have been subject of attack by the rebel forces. “An NTC source said the hostility against Nigerians might not be unconnected with the belief that Gaddafi’s followers are being sheltered in Kano and some Northern Nigerian cities. “The most recent case was the arrival of family members of the former Libyan Ambassador to Nigeria, late Mohammed Sherrefedeen, who held both Libyan and Nigerian nationality and was a fluent Hausa speaker.” http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20111004050282 |
