Since everyone want to leave the country… Nigeria professional wants to practice abroad too.

(thanks to our parent and their colleagues who spoil the country…. I know you might assume your dad’s not involved since he’s no politician, guess what our dad told their arms and watch the country turn into jungle)

Also, Every country needed Doctors and nurses…

Here in Nigeria , we have over 30 million people between age 18-25, most who’re students.

I will advise Nigeria to start grooming medical practitioners for the world…
It will be a win win situation.
Nigerians living abroad remitted 19.8 billion dollars back home in 2022…

Can you imagine what the country would’ve been without this people popping money to the economy, while our politicians are busy sending money out.

If we send like 1000,000 doctors to Europe, America, Middle East and Australia …. I want to believe this will help the economy….

So government should invest heavily in training many doctors , pharmacists, nurses and lab technicians…
I might be wrong though, but I believe I’d we start by exporting brain , by 2050 we will have big professionals handling our economy and running businesses here back home.

Doctors and nurses are not like most professionals. They are life-savers.

You need their experience.

Foreign remittance will not save you when you need brain or cardio-thoracic surgery or when you need a diagnosis, neither will a fresh medical graduate from Unilorin or uniben be useful to you in that situation.

Their years of experience is worth more than dollars. It's the difference between life and death.

Not everyone will study to become medical practitioner..

You can aswell migrate to Canada with your tech skills...

You can learn a teach today and you don't even need a college degree or masters to be a pro at a particular tech program...

Learn today! and you can start making very big income here in Northern America or the EU
please which tech skill in particular and please if you are into it already you can mentor that's just getting into it

Slavery. They only know how to use you for there benefits. If not for industrial revolution and mechanised farming, slavery for still dey in existence. White man never does anything for free including all the foreign aid they sending here. It's for a reason.
Re: Canada Joins US, Changes Rules For Nigerian Doctors, Others To Practice by saajus: 9:39pm On Jul 09, 2023
There is no way Nigeria can retain our Doctors. It is just impossible now.

I really feel sorry for my country that things may get worse. The few Doctors that would be left would be personal Doctors to the Elites. They must be making around 50 to 100m annually to avoid being tempted to Japa. Doctors are not IT or economics guys that you can quickly produce. Very soon, no Doctors would be available to treat our people unless we elect a radical President who can quickly change our course.

Another positive, let's reduce the UTME cutoff mark for Medicine a little bit, build more training facilities and start training a lot of Doctors. We know 70% would end in Canada. They must sign a contract that if they travel to practice after graduation, they must pay 50m Naira developmental fee to Ng Govt within the first 3 yrs of their practice abroad.

We expect Nigeria to subsidize medical school n other courses only for them to go work abroad.

We subsidize fuel for African countries and subsidize professional courses, only for them to run abroad and practice,

WHAT DO WE GET AS NIGERIANS IN RETURN ?
People like these don't have sense just like their Agbado master. So you are still tolling this line of we subsidized med school for them to go practice abroad. you see your country keep losing medical professionals every day to the UK, US and Canada, instead of your government to take of ways to train more medical professionals so that we do not suffer shortage of medical professionals in the future, which can be disastrous for the nation, you are here whining how can we subsidized medical school for them.

Don't let money becloud your judgement. Your families will suffer the consequences which in turn makes your money useless. And they can change the policy and deport you anytime.

I believe people in this category are actually practicing in Nigeria because they actually want to stay.
They’re not part of the people seeking to relocate as they’re consultants and practice everywhere around the world… I have an uncle like that who just dash to the US and dash out….

I want to assume they don’t belong in the category of people who’re trying to leave the country.

Canada should blame themselves for the challenge they are facing. I looked until I was tired of looking for a medical course in canada in those days for my bro. Only one out of several of their universities was offering medicine, not even on a full scale . Their citizens would go to America to study medicine and return to canada to practice.

The problem is we have many young people, but how many of them have brains that can carry medicine? So, grooming must start from kindergarten so that we can have many brains that can do Medicine. As it is right now, most of our youths' brains can't carry Medicine. Some can but the get-rich-quick mentality that has engulfed our society now won't let them have the patience to stay in school for 7 to 8 years cos successful skit makers and Youtubers today can be richer than Doctors anywhere in the world. Medicine is not very difficult compare to Engineering/Computing, but it requires a lot of attention. You have a lot of large books to read. That's why American kids are not doing it like before. Their kids are seeing many YouTubers making cool millions, so why go to schl for 10-12yrs to study Medicine? They want to flex.

Trust me, the few ones that study Medicine in Nigeria are top-tier students. Many of them are the best students in their Secondary schools. It means they score over 280 in JAMB and passed the rigor of 7yrs in Uni. Remember, some students are being kicked out after 3 or 4yrs. This process is the reason we produce Doctors capable of doing well in America and Europe. If we turn the production process to "pure water", that is "iru wa ogiri wa", by the time Nigerian Doctors kill like 20 people in Canada/US due to silly mistakes, they would change the policy.

Your advice is good, but we will need about 10-15 years to groom a new set of brains.

It's not like the rule was specifically for Nigerian doctors. Mod or OP is being sentimental. Nonetheless, we are not only shipping off our young colleagues, the elderly with all their experience are on their way too.

The crises brewing in the health sector is massive. Policy makers should not sleep o

The truth is that Nigeria Medical Doctors and other Medical Personnel are one of the most drilled and very qualified Professionals in the World!
It's this Western Imperialism ( very arrogant) postulations ( in UK,other Western Countries) as in - you have to take Test for English - when in reality most Nigerians have been using English Language since they were born and some cannot even speak their Mother tongues!
Nigeria Medical Courses are just too loaded, because it's about Saving Lifes,so nothing is taken for granted. So, instead of subjecting our locals to this rough deal, why don't you just do test for them to select the best!
Nevertheless,it's a welcome development and kudos to our Teachers/Professors in the Nigerian Universities.

Your brain is not thinking well! You subsidize with dilapidated medical facilities and poor working conditions that allow a lot of patients die for avoidable reasons plus poor salary structure and you want them to stay here so more patients will keep dieing?

The backlash has been brewing for a while. Recruited Asian and a few African doctors are protesting of horrible and hostile work environment in UK.

This is how they value them abroad. When Americans cry that immigrants depressed their wages, this is what they mean. It started with teachers, then nurses and now doctors.

Our doctors are saying they would rather work as happy slaves where they value them as slaves!

AntiZikist:
Ten years ago,the average MD earned over $1mil annually.

But since the greedy small hat tribesmen took over the Medical sector, they lobbied the govt to open borders to cheaper and far less qualified MDs from the third world whose residency in the US was tied to their job employer.

This has seen many qualified and conceintious western trained doctors resigning and going into private practice.

The small hat mafia wants to replace professional doctors with third world pliable doctors.

This should tell us that the small hate tribesmen are about to pull another Covid and are set to get rid of the few dissident doctors for drone third world doctors who dare not question their ongoing genocide ...
