It might have to do with the renewal of approval.

Funnily, they must have been renewing bribe instead of approval.

The funny thing about this issue is how NIMASA can boldly come out to say this without any iota of shame.

Nigeria is a land of thieves. Just steal your own and run away

Whenever there's an accident on the rig, industry players converge to assess what went wrong and learn from it. Just imagine their disappointment when they realise that Nigerian government allows illegal rigs to operate offshore! Tomorrow, you expect other governments to treat this country and its citizens with respect.

Nigeria literally full of useless agencies like NIMASA reporting their crimes once unfortunate events like this occur. Where was NIMASA when a complete oil rig was constructed from scratch and stood there illegally, according to them, for over 7 years?

Are they just finding out? Abi they just had to open up seeing that the rig has exposed itself and question will be asked by industry players.

If Nigeria was a serious country, nimasa should experience cleansing by this revelation.

These guys no rate us at all Chaii... Nigeria will make you cry.

The resources don't belong to Nigeria and Nigerians as we were taught to believe , it belongs to strong individuals with the support of the government and it's agencies.

You can't be a patriotic Nigerian and not daily be sad for Nigeria and her future.

We hear this anytime tragedy strikes.

They operate illegally.

They build illegally.

But bribetaking is legal. Most renew bribes instead of approvals.
don't mind the useless country...bribery comes first before compliance with regulations..safety is relegated to the background..

God bless you.
This was the first thing that came out of my mouth as I read this.
This falls under the purview of NIMASA but as one of the most corrupt government agencies, they did absolutely nothing.

Imagine NIMASA they mean a whole SEPLAT is operating illegally on that oil platform..

The whole Emergency Agency should be scrapped..

It is a rig not an oil platform. And the rig is owned by Depthwize, not Seplat.
