Diezani Allison Madueke, the minister of Petroleum Resources and Chairman of the Board of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Board, has dissociated the Ministry, the NNPC and Federal Government from the report alleging that Nigeria is to invest $2.68 billion in the building of a 300 barrels per day oil refinery in Indonesia.
In a statement made available to journalists Thursday, the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of NNPC, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma said the corporation is on the verge of building three Greenfield Refineries in Lagos, Bayelsa and Kogi States with the country’s international partners and therefore it does not make any sense to embark on any such project.
Ajuonuma maintained that the Federal Government will not be distracted from focusing on constructing and completing the three Greenfield Refinery projects it has started already.
“The Federal Government does not have any hand in this fictitious project. We want to totally and unequivocally dissociate the government from this and we don’t know where this report emanated from.
“The Federal Government is focused on its transformation agenda and committed to delivering on the three Greenfield Refineries on schedule,” Ajuonuma said.
He called on Nigerians to disregard the report as the Federal Government will not go far away to Indonesia to build a 300 bpd refinery.
