The excuses keep getting more stupid everyday...!

From leaders to corporations and marketers, down to citizens, no one seems to have a single clue.

There's never been a better time to earn in foreign currencies, like now. That notwithstanding, cost of living is scary. I don dey strongly consider relocation to Kenya.

Some people will avoid the trade, just look at who they have been praising because of tribalism, this man just entered and destroy Nigeria, since he came in, Nigerians have not seen any good thing, every day you see news of increment, either in food industry, petroleum sector, taxes etc

💯 correct!!!

Jessyjeff:
This is not even hidden. Without subsidy, Nigerians would have been paying about 750 - 770 Naira for 1 litr e of petrol since August, when Naira dipped against the USD and crude oil prices started rising.

Since early August, only NNPCL has been importing fuel to Nigeria. Those in government can call it any cosmetic name ( under- recovery, etc), it is still subsidy.

This is why people shouldn't believe what the federal government has been saying. The government is still paying subsidy on fuel and also fixes fuel price; the market is not deregulated for fuel.

Well the good thing about this crises is that this forum will gradually return to some sense of sanity when the madmen have been weeded out by the harsh economy.

A day is coming when real issues will be discussed here. Suffering is the Panadol for the sickness of sentiment.

NNPC is the sole importer of PMS

NNPC does not source dollars from the parallel market to import PMS. Why? They earn dollars by themselves.

NNPC can do swaps - crude for PMS - to import PMS and sell at a profit back home.

There is NO subsidy anywhere.

One way or the other, the government must do something that would make life worth living for Nigerians. Either the government removes subsidises on PMS consumption and directly reflate the low income earning strata, or continue to subsidise, it would have to do something! Clinically it is easier to reflate the economy by empowering the poor to increase consumption and output rather than subsidises which is sure to benefit only very few who are privileged.

The first option makes better economic sense,

Chikena.

I'm really drained. Despite what I earn on a weekly basis, I have no savings. Everything I was able to put aside while the Daura failure held sway, has been eroded in three months, because you can't afford to have relatives in need and be hoarding resources.

This man is worse than a natural disaster. We're like a people with no direction. You can't even sit down today and tell someone that you know where Nigeria is headed. One begins to subconsciously romance the notion of what life would have been like if we were in the hands of military administrators.

Go to the street, there is traffic everywhere, we have forgotten and adapted to N585/Litr of petroleum. Government knows this and they believe it's time to take it forward. The last time subsidy was removed I thought we've gotten pushed to the wall but I think the wall has been moved further back. Get ready for N1k/litr!

Whether it's quasi or Nkrumah subsidy, I no wan know...our economy cannot accommodate further increase in pump price.

Anything the government is doing to keep the pms price at the increase Nigerians don stylishly accommodate right now should be done...further increase will be suicidal.

Atleast, Government don save tangible amount from the initial humongous subsidy...so, paying NGN100/litre as subsidy right now is better by far to what they would have been paying (over NGN500/litre) had it been subsidy is not removed.

If you call it partial subsidy..please, let's have it!

Don't burn this Country!
