Residents of Ido-Ekiti in Ido-Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Thursday protested against the alleged killing of a girl, identified as Tayo Abe, by a policeman.

The policeman was also said to have shot and injured two of Tayo Abe’s siblings identified as Adeniyi and Ayodeji while harvesting maize on their father’s farm on the outskirt of the town.

Our correspondent learnt that the three siblings were sent by their father to harvest maize on the farm when some policemen accosted them and opened fire on them without asking them any question.

The shooting also angered the residents who vandalised part of the police station. No fewer than three patrol vans inside the police station were reportedly vandalised by the irate youths.

The monarch and some aides to Governor Kayode Fayemi, including the Chief Security Officer and the Senior Special Assistant on Internal Security, Mr. Deji Adesokan, succeeded in calming the youngsters.
