They should license generating company. This is total nonsense
Only what you generate you can distribute.
If we generate more electricity then we talk of more distribution company.

The most important thing is, WHAT MEGAWATTS OF ELECTRICITY IS NIGERIA GENERATING AND DISTRIBUTING AT THE MOMENT AND IN YEARS?

Nigeria is such a shameless, USELESS and empty country filled with the most evil, senseless, corrupt and old fool leaders.

South Africa here is producing almost 250,000 megawatts of electricity.

Oga, learn to lie small now. People you are talking to here are not fools. SA 250,000megawatts....nawa ooh.
South Africa generate about 50,000 megawatt. We all know Nigeria is not doing well in all area. But you self too lie

THAT MEANS SOUTH AFRICA IS PRODUCING ALMOST X10, IMAGINE!

HOW CAN A COUNTRY SURVIVE AND PROGRESS WITH ELECTRICITY IN THIS MODERN AGE?
YET, NIGERIA STILL REMAINS 6TH LARGEST PRODUCER OF CRUDE OIL IN THE WORLD.

WHAT A SHAME!

No need to exaggerate. South Africa produces about 50,000 megawatts of electricity. However even this reality is an embarrassment to Nigeria, but there's just no need to exaggerate. Google is your friend

Misinformation!

According to the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, South Africa's total domestic electricity generation capacity is 58,095 megawatts (MW) from all sources. Currently coal is by far the major energy source for South Africa, comprising around 80 percent of the country's energy mix

There's hardly competition in disco level.

Customers usually patronize the discos that run thru their areas.

The only good thing here is that they would help distribute the excess power being generated and unutilized most times.
Which is even subpar.

Let them give pre-paid meters to consumers as done in other countries.
No more community billing system which is milking consumers dry with little to no supply of electricity.

Nothing like competition since each of the companies has an autonomy over the area they cover.

oh that's great. I now see why IKEDC has improved power supply to my area. The competition is going be interesting
So if IKEDC didn't increase power supply in your area what alternative do you have rather than your generator/Inverter? At most, you park out from the area and another person park in. So where is the competition you are talking about?
