You and I know how the rules work in the national assemblies. It's a game of number which the SE doesn't have. Referendum can not be achieved because of the numerical strength of those on the other divide.

First IPOB was waving Biafra flags and were gunned down in cold blood. They were nonviolent. Nigeria Government provoked them to pick up arms and defend themselves. Even you will do same in that situation.
Secondly, our political leaders are not interested in the agitations because they are government workers under oath to work for Nigerian interests. In addition, they are very corrupt and don't represent the interests of their people. If they don't represent the views and interests of their people how do you think they will support a cause that would benefit the people? It's so unfortunate that we have these kind of leaders. It's not possible for elites and politicians profiting from a system to work towards its demise.
Politicians will never champion the disintegration of any corrupt country like Nigeria because they thrive within the corrupt and dysfunctional system and are constrained by their loyalty to the head of state and the state itself.
