The money we earn from 1.7 m barrels of oil is about the same as Libya which produces the same amount

Yet because Libya has 8 million and we have 220 million, per capita revenue for Nigeria is less than that of Libya. Then corruption comes in and makes things worse

If we really want to earn big money we have to become an exporter of manufactured goods and services

We need to start refining our crude oil. It doesn't make sense that we spend most of our money on importing products gotten from crude oil.

We also need to be a producer of more than just crude oil and its derivatives.

I think that's where Agriculture comes in.

If we can produce (in abundance) everything we consume, money spent on imported goods will reduce. The economy will benefit a lot. This is something China has perfected.

How much is the international price of crude oil now multiply by 1.7m barrel still multiply by 30days. You will know how much FG get as revenue from Oil sector. You talk of custom, firs, soildminiarel, aviation sector, roadsafty, tolls, etc
when you finally divide it by our over population, you'll discover we make less than 20k per head monthly on crude.

This should please translate to the betterment of the common man on the street, people are suffering now.
The current price of crude oil is 96usd per barrel, multiplied by 1.7million is 163 million dollars daily and almost 5 billion dollars monthly and Nigeria is still borrowing millions of dollars from world bank?
Something must be wrong somewhere!
Not to talk of other exports and IGR.
We need accountability in this country!

I Saw fuel price yesterday at 571, diesel is more than 1000 and kerosene is no go area, they want to distract you that the reduction of petrol price is not the secret subsidy we suspect they are paying that is is be caused of increased barrels of oil, you will ask why is diesel and kerosene still expensive and petrol going down? Why re they still borrowing?

nothing is adding up

Yet naira still keeps losing value and Nigerians getting poorer.
Why is our own always different? When will we see the benefits of increased oil production. Is it just by announcement this minister has done ie by mouth?

This right here is the problem.
The Oil producing states cannot be feeding a whole Nation.
Other regions have natural resources as well but greed and insecurity has forced everyone to either abandon theirs (South west / Middle belt ) or protect theirs (North)

There is corruption in Nigeria. However, even without corruption, we will still be poor!

We are not a productive nation! So since the income we get from extraction is low, we will be poor! Buhari tried to move us to production, but Tinubu Govt seems to be taking us back to where we used to be!

What of other sectors of the economy as mentioned earlier in the tread. OR, Do you think it's only in sector that Nigeria generate revenue only?

if oil is the Major source of income that contributes about 30‰ of our income, we still generate less than 70k monthly per head. We both know even a poor man spends an average of 30k directly or indirectly.

Why are they still borrowing is the right question bro!
And the price of both Fuel, diesel and kerosene should reduce simultaneously of they are no longer paying subsidy.
Many things are not adding up!!

Please stop saying that, we are poor because of CORRUPTION and bad economic policies!
Please check the population of India, China and some others that don't have oil and compare that with Nigeria then you get where we are!
Corruption, gluttony, unstable and bad economic policies and citizens that cheer stupid leaders have killed us, take it or leave it!
Let the govt fully utilize (without embezzlement) how much we make now as income, the changes will marvel you!!

Go to Niger delta and ask them, we know what politics has done to Nigeria, divide and rule but people will never forget who they are even if you rewrite history.

That's not how it's calculated. And while you focused on FG, you conveniently ignored the huge oil derivation recieved by states which actually sit on a huge chunk of the derivation, closer to the people yet highly ineffective like Delta states, Akwa Ibom etc still leading in unemployment, development etc
