The government can not open up because APC cannot expose APC. So true. There's so much opacity.

Even if there are no Dollars, the CBN should start by laying a new foundation by increasing interest rates to around 25% to kill inflation. It will also strengthen the Naira.

So, all along, Godwin Emefiele had been lying through his teeth about the size of the foreign reserves. I doubt he ever went below $30bn inside it. It is actually less than $4bn, which is less than a months import cover, rather than the recommended minimum of 3 months.

You clearly have no clue what you are talking about

Interest rate has no impact on inflation in
Nigeria

We have no consumer credit or mortgage system

If a business is borrowing at 25% how much profit will they make

In short you are say shut down the economy
Because it is mostly businesses that borrow
Inflation in Nigeria is largely a function on dollar exchange rate not interest rate

What you are suggesting is crazy and stupid
We need to target credit at critical sectors
If our industries borrow at 25%_ in a globalised world how can they ever hope to compete against imports from countries with 5% interest or even subsidies like agriculture in the EU, USA,CHINA

WE cannot have any agriculture with 25% interest

That's a painful truth few want to talk about. Tribal loyalty...raw and primal tribalism, is the most important driver of the political economy in every country. It's very difficult for most humans to think beyond that.

Good Luck to Nigeria!!!

Are you the CBN governor pastor omokri?

What he is saying is the fact.

Though there's no forex, government can begin to lay a new foundation for a fat foreign reserve by increasing interest rates to around 25% to kill inflation.

The next is an IMF loan to get the needed Dollars

how was reducing liquidity the solution to Nigerias economic problems?

before buhari printed so much money as u claim, why didnt Emefiele tell him the implication of the printing?

was the printing of money the reason for the liquidity that emefiele wanted to reduce?

can you pls explain what u mean by "deflation policy"?

how will the cashless policy have improved the economy?

The IIGB0 brain is far too inferior and not capable of governance. Even though I do not blame them for their inferior brain as that is how they were created.

tctrills:

The people need jobs, food, safety, and a system that works for them and not more economics classes.

This attitude is one of the reasons Nigeria has become a Zoo. Nigerians have a deep disdain for systematic, applied knowledge.

It's not just economics, whether construction of buildings and roads or fixing cars, electing good governments or performing surgical or medical procedures, it's difficult to find a Nigerian who will take the time to learn and apply proper technique. They just want the OUTCOME and BENEFIT without any stress on HOW it's done. So we get low quality output everywhere, it's so bad Nigerians will look at a PROVEN METHOD of accomplishing something and find it fit to argue why it's wrong. Their argument is always "na book we go chop? No be class we dey do here".

When they're lucky enough to get a good result from a flawed method, they just hold onto that path and claim it as God's work, that they're favored.

The basic reason Nigeria has descended into a state of anomie is clear. It's THE PEOPLE.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
