SWOT Analysis about the possiblity of a Nigerian Spring succeeding :

Strengths
There is a genuine need for a Nigerian spring:

The Nigerian masses are oppressed

Every election conducted has been rigged so our mandate is denied us.

80-90% of population are in extreme poverty

Most graduates are unemployed

We have large population of unemployed youths

Weakness
Many Nigerians believe that only God would give us good governance.

Tribalism makes it unlikely that an entire cross-section of population would support the campaign.

Opportunites
Unions are likely to protest Fuel price subsidies removal

Nairaland

Facebook

mass texting

Threats
News black-out of the protests by International and Nigerian media who are  generally supporting the corrupt eites and against the masses

Corrupt elites could sponsor some murderous thugs to turn protest violent and then get Nigerian media to dismiss entire protest as tribal /ethnic conflict

Many agents of the corrupt elite are operating here on Nairaland and would do their best to de-rail any attempt to start a campaign from Nairaland.

Ayotolla Mohammadu Bin Buhari apologists, haters, and hausa/fulani and their southern collaborators are looking for a regime change for selfish political reason. Around 70% Nigerians live on less than $2 a day; but majority are in the north because their religious and political leaders kept them that way to have an easy supply of almajiri for trouble making.

This so-called strength is flawed, it is the same stupi.dity that projected a Buhari victory!

Many Nigerians voted for GEJ, and they believe that with God on his side, he will guide us aright. We believe that his has genuine interest in dealing with hydra headed corruption, and we hope that removal of fuel subsidy is one of the best way to deal with this. They are laughing off this sectional campaign of calumny against the no 1 man. And we are seriously looking for weakness in the Nigerian state, to call it a day with Nigeria!

Unions will raise their voices to explain the need for fuel subsidy. Nairaland is a grossly over-estimate.
We are on facebook too, and we can mass text in support of our proposal! I see stalemate at the most!

Beaf has a point
Although the suffering in Nigeria exceeds that of Libya and those "sprung" countries,
It should not be GenBuhari that should be opening this thread

However
Suffering in Nigeria = past 12 years witnessed the largest oil revenue in Nigerian history
But PDP = deepening and entrenching poverty
Re: Nigerian Spring - Can It Happen? - A SWOT Analysis by Nobody: 1:14pm On Oct 25, 2011
let us have your analysis of the factors that could affect a possible Nigerian Spring.

Nigerians being Nigerians , expect that we would find a 1,001 reasons why it shouldn't happen so I would like every to focus and comment on how it could succeed.

GENBUHARI will never give up the fight on an election that has been won and lost for months

why not think of ways to help move the country forward?

u think making the country 'UN-governable' is the best for us?

Strengths - Citizen Dissatisfaction at its highest level ever. hunger, poverty, inflation,GEJ, etc

Weaknesses - Nigerians love life to much (no matter what harship they face)

Opportunities - National dialogue/referendum on the future of the entity called Nigeria. Amicable divorce?

Threats - Miiltant Islamist Hijack the cause eg Boko; Military go on a killing spree.

Based on the above analysis - it aint gonna happen!!!

There will be no "Nigerian Spring" because Spring is not one of the seasons we have in Nigeria. Gosh! That was so simple to figure-out.

How about a Nigerian Tropical Storm then? smiley

I think it may be more like a "Meltdown" in Nigeria- removal of subsidies and massive corruption that we see almost daily may lead to "Things Falling Apart" unless the people in power take honest, effective and decisive decisions.
