They are part of the problem we have in Lagos, imagine my area where land values around 20m to 30m just because this igbos want to turn every part in Lagos to their properties, they will offer to buy the land for 80m and making land values skyrocket everywhere in my area, even the real indigenes can't afford lands from their hometown cox of this igbos

Instead of blaming the Igbos, why not report to your thieving Oba to checkmate the activities of the sellers??

Oh, awon Oba na ti gba share ta'awon 😂😂🤣

Was born and breed in Festac Town, to go back to my hood is not something that gives me joy, it's a shadow of what it used to be. Hotels and Bars have taken over everywhere. A once very serene environment that we were raised is gone due to the commercialisation of the hood, roads are bad, now very noisy. Visited my Alma mater St. Jude's happy it's prestige is still intact.
you attended St Jude? Wow! I started at St. Jude for just prep 1 and 2. Went to Jakande schools for primary 1 and 2 then finished at Nazareth School.

The oba has nothing to do with it, it's the buyer cox once they hear they have put up a house for sale in the area and the owner wants 30m and probably have gotten someone to pay the 30m, the igbos will go behind to offer the buyer 70m for same land owner wants to sell for 30m and as you know, owner can't get offer of 70m and still want to sell for 30m.

Immediately owner gets 70m for the house, the owner of next house beside the sold house will hear about the value the owner sold his house n he too will now put up his property for sale for same 70m but another igbo will come and offer 100m and that's how they keep increasing land values in the area and making it difficult for indigenes to afford it.

Wish government can place land values in every area and whoever sell land beyond the values will face government...

This is not about whataboutisms. Those who have ears should hear. You dare the state, the state will bring down its weight of the law upon you.

FHA told them to stop when they were still at foundation level but they said they paid omoonile and continued building in complete disregard to the FHA directive. https://www.nairaland.com/7923242/demolitions-festac-fg-warned-land

This is Lagos state Government and FHA spending a lot of resources and time to fix the problem and at no expense to any of the violators unlike Anambra state government that imposed such expense to serve as deterrent. Perhaps Lagos State Government may soon adopt that to serve as deterrent too like Anambra.

Seems you dreamt about anambra last night.

There is a modification going on right by my close. They have marked it twice.

The man is building a hotel in a residential area. He has extended beyond his fence.

A house was demolished in my close and two houses built in its stead. No approval. Nothing.

The fact of the matter is that we break the rules and expect that we can get away with breaking the rules indefinitely. All that is required is a strong face director with a mission to clean things up at which point you will find yourself in trouble. Relying or depending on corrupt officials (who only care about your money and not about giving you a reliable service) is not sustainable
Bros, in the 90s, that was what destroyed all the factories in Aminu jinadu close, iganmu industrial estate. One fella built a warehouse across the drainage path. The whole area became flooded once it rained. Heavy duty machines, electricity cables, generators will be flooded. That was the major reason all the factories closed shop placing thousands of people out of work.

Why in the first place did they allowed the construction and selling of the land and property to people. This is just pure act of hatred that's all I see.

You’ll get insulted for this , Nigerians always think with money they can bribe their way not thinking of the aftermath, power is transient.
I’m only sorry for those who are not aware or cajoled but those ones that knew and bribed their way to build houses there I’m not sorry

Based on all I've read and the responses of those affected, most of the structures were built without genuine approvals. They paid omo onile and bribed scammers to acquire government land. Some were hoping that they would be allowed to "regularise" after building. Notices were given last year according to FHA. Some who had not built still went ahead. Anyone with genuine documents and approvals can sue the government.

Honestly, we need to learn to comply with our laws if we truly want a better society. We're the greatest critics of government when flooding occurs, yet we see nothing wrong in building on water channels.

The most annoying thing is the silly idea that a tribe is being targeted. Most reports I've read show a mix of tribes as respondents from Lekki and Festac.

May God grant them full restoration.

Actually I don't blame Lagos State government

You cannot sand fill water bodies to be building estates

It's so rampant lekki, ikoyi(including banana island) down to Ajah, Sangotedo to Epe

People should ask questions before they buy land and start sand filling

I know guys that bought up many lands those lekki, osapa, Chevron axis
They even sounded out those available opportunity to me then but thank God I didn't key in

Now focused on my budding real estate Development in the East, some states in the South South and FCT.
FCT opportunities is massive. Recently saw one massive Estate Obi Cubana is Developing close to American international School in the FCT
Heard it's already sold out

Elections are over. He is now in his second term, Sanwolu is now doing as he likes. Why did he come up with this fully before now? Why not before election? Why after election? The action/plan looks good for Lagos? But the real motive behind it is my problem. If the motive is truly right and pure, it should have come before the elections. Hmm.... I can clearly read the writing on the wall.

Whether before or after Election

People defaulted in a very big way

I believe it will bring sanity and also provide opportunities for states undeveloped

Those my Igbo brothers with too much money that they waste will get sense and put those Money for East where Development is highly needed

This will teach them lesson and make them get sense by Force or there money will keep on going to waste

You're admitting that the violators were actively involved and aware.

Whether it is omoonile or corrupt FHA officials, would you believe anyone of them enough to go ahead even when the FHA marked your house for demolition or tells you to stop at the foundation level? You will not do that nah. You will rather err on the side of caution and attempt to cut your losses.

But Mr Wahab sir, Lagos state Sandfilled bar beach and turn it to Eko Atalantic .

Somebody or some agency is currently sandfilling the Lagoon that flows under third mainland bridge at Iyana Oworo .

Ilubirin was sandfilled during Fashola era and they are currently building “ Lagos Homes “ there now.

One question sir; won’t those waters create another paths for themselves?
