In medical schools, students are expected to use international textbooks. Many of those students are not sound educationally. Some of them couldn't cope academically in private medical schools in Nigeria. They had to attend medical schools in some substandard universities in some third world countries. If they are academically sound, they should try schooling in canada and usa medical schools. In most cases, they would get education loans or scholarship.
Why do u feel it was some 3rd world countries?take it frm some of us that school in abroad, our educational system here is shit.wen i was in schl abroad i get formular table while naija go tell u prove d formula b4 answering d question.formula wey no be u invent n is available everywhere .also there there is past questions n syllabus fully followed bt in naija u see some idiot going completely out of syllabus. i cld keep going bt bliev me its easy for someone who passed abroad to fail for naija becos our system is not in sync wit wat is out there.

Majority of these candidates simply traveled out to study Medicine because they couldn't get admission for Medicine in any Nigerian university.
Anybody who has the money can always travel 'abroad' to study medicine.
The way Nigeria trained medical doctor troop to write UK exam is the way our brothers abroad also troop in to sit the MDCN examination, many usually fail though.
.
.
But not everyone can graduate. I don't trust those ones who did their studies in Sudan, Benin and Egypt but Europe, Russia and America? Forget...they are way ahead of Nigeria. Many Nigerian trained doctors struggle to pass exams in these regions.

These foreign doctors were probably not trained or raised to face the rigourous and stressful ways Nigerian trained doctors are conditioned to write exams and pass them despite hardships of medical school.
They're probably not used to negative marking and unnecessary twisting of lexicon in the question to deliberately confuse you into failure.

When they sit for foreign exams like PLAB and USMLE, they'll usually ace them.
MDCN should probably look into itself as an exam body.

Then y are they coming back why not stay and work in the place of study
All these are backdoor doctors

Medical professors in the UK and US will fail Nigerian MDCN exams. They structure the exam for the people to fail.
If you know how they twist their questions in Nigeria you'll pity Nigerian medical students. That's why Nigerian doctors do extremely well abroad where things are straightforward.

Are you saying the twisting excluded the over 400 that passed?

We should not be blaming our leaders for everything that happens in Nigeria. It is the followers that determine the quality of their leaders. If we have good followers, we will surely have good leaders because it is out of the followers that leaders emerge from. What we have in Nigeria is societal problem and not until we change our mindset things will continue to go from bad to worse and worse to worst.
How do we manage the little space given to each and every one of us occupied.

So the Medical Council is out to brag I guess. Who doesn't know that exams in Nigeria are structured to fail people! Lecturers brag about how people can't pass their courses. School of pharmacy and medicine in most universities here in Nigeria are happy when students commit suicide and go on to tell new entrants that it is not for the faint of heart. Out there in Europe and other developed countries you have interactions with your lecturers on academic growth and good mental health. Let's not forget the other reason they will want people to fail; so some can pay through their noses to get the license.

So, releasing a report on the exam conducted by the medical council amounts to bragging?
These reports are released each time the exam is conducted and I can confirm to you that I read a report like this early this year.
Maybe the medical council brags twice a year.

Of course some people will always pass. My point is that our system revel in the failure of candidates. In the western system, you've passed till you give them a reason to fail you. In ours, you've failed till you give them a reason to pass you.

You are dumb 8f you still have this mentality. Poverty mentality that makes you people think people who attended private universities and schools abroad are Rich and failed JAMB.
You scored 300 in JAMB but we're given Botany, and same person went abroad or private university, does that mean such had failed?
Take your brain and visit a psychiatrist.
And mind you, even having 200 in JAMB is more than enough for you to be a doctor, Medicine is not about 400 in JAMB but about the interest, dedication and consistency in studying in medical school. Reason you will see someone with 250 graduating without a single resit or repeat but see someone with 330 failing out.
JAMB is basically for admission, it has nothing to do with intelligence or who will become a better professional. Use your brain, it's not for decoration

This is the highest pass rate they have ever gotten in this examination, normally it is 30 percent success rate. Cyprus and some of the universities are not good.

"Sudanese and Yemeni trained medical doctors!!!"
Sudan has one of the best training schemes. Sudan-trained doctors don't need to sit for exams in most Western countries to practice. There are many Nigerian-trained doctors who also struggle with foreign exams. Additionally, the MDCN's testing system lacks proper information on the scope of testing. It's challenging to return to a country after six years and immediately understand how the health system and exam testing work. I speak from experience, having gone through both Nigerian medical education and foreign medical institutions;I aced both exams once excellently. I've witnessed both Nigerian-trained doctors who failed foreign exams and those who excelled. Visit the NDUK website on Facebook and read about the struggles of Nigeria doctors working for the first time in the UK;this is normal as this is a new system for you.So please ,you people should understand perspectives before slandering innocent young people trying to come back to their home country.

Exams are designed to be either passed or failed.

grin grin Wait, did I just see Sudan on the list of countries, Nigerians go to study medicine in?
Wonders shall never end oo! Sudan that is a complete failure as a nation,a country that has never had a stable economy and is always in turmoil and chaos, and now it's in another state of chaos that began in Mid April this year.
What sensible Nigerian goes there to study? What would he or she learn there?
Back to the main issue, why won't foreign trained doctors fail the exams when all they teach here is cramming knowledge, which would not even be precise with the research knowledge obtained overseas?
Studying medicine here in Nigeria is a total waste.
