I know you are going to disagree with me...but unfortunately, even with this waste our government is putting us through, climate change is a priority.

1.The Sahara is expanding. That means that lots of farmland in the North could be lost. That means large numbers of refugees running down South. At the end, issues . Let's not forget that Lake Chad drying up, and the impact it could have on things like Boko and banditry.

2.See the Fulani herdsmen crisis? A big part is climate change. Once upon a time, the grassland extended further north than it is now. Now, the Sahara is taking over. That means that herdsmen stay longer in the south. More crisis (Note, I am not here to justify herdsmen. In my opinion, they should have long since set up modern ranches up North).

3.The rising of the atlantic ocean threatens a lot of coastal communites. Lagos has already had some issues as far back as the 1990's self.It is projected to get worse.

4.Excessive rain...mass flooding. Also, poor rain...famine.


5.If you live in the delta. ...unless you like having gas flaring all over the place, you would love cop 20...as it puts pressure on oil companies to reduce flaring. Note..oil companies, not government.


P.S Note that it does not justify the large delegation we sent to Dubai. 100 delegates could have done the job better. Then we got zoom and google meet and technology which can enable attending meetings without travelling self.

Nigerians are funny people.

They elect leaders that are 'bigger' than them, leaders that they fear instead of leaders that fear them.
So they have governments they simply cannot control.
And a government that cannot be controlled by 'the people' is not a democratic one in deed.

In other nations where democracy works the moment 'the people' raise issues of concern, those elected to government respond almost instantaneously because they know the consequences of popular discord and know that any lacuna in citizen advocacy immediately transfers power to the opposition.

The summary of all this is that a nation is best served when the citizens put the overall interests of their country and their fellow citizens above themselves, their parochial interests and all other pecuniary sensibilities.

We cannot continue putting people into power only to turn around and bemoan their actions while in government and wail about their poor terms when they vacate office. There should be mechanisms to steer governments in motion towards a desired and expected end.

And they (Nigerians complaining ) will wonder why they remain unemployed or underemployed. Next year when the conference calls for applicants better apply and go with your own money,networking is the way.

Toke has more sense than a lot of Nigerian youths. Simple, her role there is as an influencer,and she has proven her worth,I mean toke was what trended...all she had to do is report the topics and theme of the conference and she has scored big time.
