The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has called upon the Igbos to collaborate with the state government and demonstrate respect for the “owners of the land.” Akiolu rejected the idea that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would deliberately demolish their properties, emphasizing the importance of cooperation.

These statements were issued during a meeting on Saturday with Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze, at the Oba’s palace. Concerns had been raised by some Igbo residents in Lagos regarding the demolition of their properties and shops by the state government. They accused the Sanwo-Olu administration of engaging in ethnic profiling through these actions.

However, Akiolu said: “We know Igbos are very hard working, but you have to respect the land owners. We have identified the problem in Nigeria, and what we want is a solution.

I am appealing to you in the name of God. The governor cannot deliberately destroy your property. Just play according to the rules of the game.

“To the Igbo, anybody who wishes the best for Lagos is a Lagosian.

I assure Ndigbo that nobody will maliciously mistreat you. All of you should cooperate with the Lagos government to move the state forward.

Kabiyesi has spoken well. Please cooperate with the Lagos State Government, respect and live in peace with your Yoruba hosts who own the land.

I applaud everyone who has been law abiding and helping to move Lagos State forward. God bless you.

Who sold the lands to Igbos in the first place? The owners of the land did , so are the owners of those lands who sold it to Igbos respecting the laws of their own lands?

My SE neigbours, you are the true Definition of one Nigeria. If you don't talk about yourselves, haters will definitely do. You are the glue that hold the existence of Nigeria together. In the face of corruption & massive decay in tge maladministration of the country, haters talk about you our dear Neigbours the Igbo.

When you see an Igboman for the first time, you see resilience hardwork & Vision in one.

May Allah give my SS people the wisdom to know their real enemies . The hatred shown to our Neigbours by those who also see nothing good in us from the SS is alarming

The only thing working in this stolen mandate government is propaganda, hatred, vile, against the Igbos for no clear reasons.

What a country

Ask them how igbos are not respecting the owners of the land, you won't get any tangible answer.

Igbos need to restrategise and re-evaluate thier views.

It has become vital that they go back to the values that made them formidable in the old days and focus on developing thier own territories.

Invest in the East and build it to the way you want.

Get a hang on national politics, build political bridges and push for what would make the region develop.

Deny space to the rabble rousers from the region who hide under the guise of freedom figthing to promote violence, destruction and denial of the same freedoms they claim to want...

Engage more with other ethnic groups beyond economic relations. Engage to learn, understand and then teach and make others also understand your culture.

Don't mind them

The funny thing about this is that most of these people who are making these baseless accusations about the Igbos are strangers, they came to this same Lagos like the Igbos

No.

No Igbo has the right to contest in any election, or fight for any political posts in Lagos or any SW state, same way not Yoruba or northerner has the right to do so in the SS or SE... Nigeria is not yet ripe for such... So just do your businesses, enjoy yourselves, collaborate in building the society and take your wealth to your homeland to change its outlook

You better be wise wink That's the whole idea, go back and listen to the interview of Sowunmi and Pa Olabode George , two leading members of the opposition to APC. Linking them to the Igbo is a political liability for them
