Lekki Phase 1 was developed by the Lagos State Government (New Towns Development Authority). It was planned by the government. It doesn't matter if you helped them to build the road, it is owned by the government. Unless the road is within a private estate, it is a public road. All those gates that were removed are on public roads. Anything else is illegal and will be a distortion of the masterplan.
Bro for saying this I dash you one billion somali currency.

But was the traffic in the past few days not caused because they diverted traffic from an entire road for their godfather?

Bros Lekki phase 1 is not private incase you missed it.
the question is why we're those gates installed? The lagos state government should fix the root cause.. thats my point..

Some of these estates actually constructed or upgraded those street roads when it should have been the government. So why won't they gate them?

People just erect gates indiscriminately on the street across the state. Access roads that are meant to ease traffic are all gated, yet Lagosians complain of traffic jam everyday.

Bro I concor 💯% but why should anyone mount gates on government road that's appalling you know that. It is high time we put more pressure on government to do their job across board because it their job to provide proper infrastructures.

Truth be told, if this whole nonsense can happen on the island, where we believe there's a modicum of sanity, I wonder what on earth will be happening on the mainland, where disorderliness is the order of the day.

I believe it's about time, LASG shift their focus to the mainland, particularly those living in Alimosho, Ifako/Ijaiye, Oshodi/Isolo local government areas.

Many of the people living in those LGA think it's their God given right to misbehave and do whatever they like.
We have allowed impunity reign supreme & it will take genuine determination & strong will to kill it.

It is a shame we're where we're today,🇳🇬 so called political elite's are irresponsible. They go with police escorts left right & centre binding the citizenry to the philistines. If government had provided adequate security for all there won't be need for gates in all the streets.

We're our problem !!!

This is not realistic in every where. The road in front of my house is meant to be private as we did it up ourselves and put a gate. Now most of the roads in lekki are private as there was no plan in them areas B4 development came., however I think the broke the law when they failed to man the gate. There should be a visible body there to open the gate.I shall agree with you on that one plus the gate serves as a big deterrents to kidnappers and vehicle driving criminals.
Understandable there are exemption to Various areas but where people we close 2 lane of a road for nonsense causing hardship is what am talking about.

So all roads were built by LASG right?

If you graded a road, it is not yours. It is still the property of LASG.

Give the names of roads built privately in phase 1.? Name the specific street..

At least I know admiralty road was built by LASG, yet its gated at the tail end.. they will even be asking for stupid code ,on a government road, in broad daylight ! ,that's how deluded some lekki residents are.. forming estate on a public road

there is legal way of putting a gate in your road, however if they fail to abide by the rules and regs then taking them down is great.
as for the name a road, I dont live in Lagos.
