Former governors, party elders, current state governors and party officials of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly benefited from an extortion bazaar of N500 million from the governor of Bayelsa state, Timipre Sylva, as he went on a spending spree to regain his candidacy at the PDP primaries in the state. SaharaReporters learnt tonight that a group led by for PDP board of trustees, Anthony Anenih, got Nigeria's president Jonathan to back down from disqualifying the Bayelsa state governor after they succeeded in extorting about N500 million from the governor for themselves and party officials. A source close to Governor Sylva told Saharareporters tonight that huge cash amounts were moved to party leaders to save the governor whose name had been yanked off party list of qualified candidates by last night.
