It's pretty straightforward.y mother is a USC and she filled for me. I'm at the NVC waiting for interview letter. It's an immigrant visa.

Immigrant visa is different from non immigrant visa.

Immigrant visa entails you going to the USA on a green card (to live there permanently), being that a family member (father, mother, brother, sister, daughter, son, spouse) filed or petition for you to join them on a permanent basis.

While Non immigrant visa entails you going to the USA on a Visa which is time sensitive ( that is temporary basis) as you described in your comment.
