The recent passing of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu (Aketi) in Ondo State has not only left a void in leadership but has also exposed a constitutional lapse with the non-appointment of a Deputy Governor by the incumbent, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. According to Section 191 of the Nigerian Constitution, in the event of a vacancy in the office of the Deputy Governor, the Governor is obligated to appoint a replacement, subject to confirmation by the State House of Assembly. It is simply out of respect, he wants Aketi lowered down before that happens.

It will be disrespectful to begin to talk of that now. He also doesn't need any Constitution whatever, appoint someone who is constitutionally qualified and submit his/her name to the HoA.
