kalemy: Do you drink bottled water and mineral? Do you go to eateries and order take away? Do you go to parties and drink bottled water? Do you warm food in take away in your microwave? Do you store food in your fridge in plastic take away? As long you do anyone of these then you will know why the ban is very ill timed. There are so many food businesses that require take away to be in operation even bottled plastic bottled water... If they enforce this thing so many Lagos may cry.... 1 Like |

There are two different types of "take away" if not more. One is transparent plastic while the other is a foam foil. I believe the one that they are about to ban is the foam foil because it's a single use item. Brendaniel: 2 Likes |

[quote author=madridguy post=128052414]The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment & Water Affairs should calm down and take things easy. This is peoples solely source of income and I believe there should be time frame to this. [/quot Ya have a good point here but ya must bear in mind d character n nature of our people concerned...The government of this part of d world 🌍 are Not like that of d western World where lots of factors are considered before taking such drastic actions...Anyway, let's see how it goes cos this won't be easy to implement... 1 Like |

BigBashiru:Subsidy was suppose to end after the PIB bill was signed by Buhari in 2020 or 2021. The Buhari led FG made provision to pay for subsidy for just 5 month(January -May) in 2023. Before he became the president, Tinubu said he's not going to subsidize petrol, even if Nigerians protest. People like you do not follow the news. |

Don't know why it took the government this long to decide. It remains the main ingredient blocking the drains in the metropolis and getting them out of the way would help clear a lots of deficiencies in our environments. Good one to the LASG team. A greater LAGOS is surely rising. GOD BLESS LAGOS STATE EKO O NI BAJE O Brendaniel: Understand the context before painting the government blacks. The items you listed ain't affected as they're not single-use packs but recyclables. what the government banned is the foam-like packs often called styrofoams which often has no second value. Infact, the lots you mentioned are the alternatives and would continue to be in the market because they end up getting recycled to another like products. Brendaniel: What you're listing ain't SINGLE USE COMMODITIES. single use commodities are so named because they haven't any second value. your plastic bottles would still be in use despite this ban. but you have your right to disbelieve anything whether ignorantly or deliberately. It's your cup of coffee |

dawnomike: You are right but the UAE is an entire nation and Lagos is a state in an nation. Mind you the UAE is not facing the same environmental challenges as Lagos so it would be foolish to apply the same strategy as the UAE. That said. Don you think Nigeria as a nation is applying theirs gradually starting with Lagos? Why do Nigerians hate policies that are aimed at bringing positive change. The entire state should continue to endure the environmental challenges brought by the packs because a few people sell it and make a living from it? How exactly do Nigerians think? 1 Like |
