DON’T SCRAP LG COUNCILS IN NIGERIA
I seize this medium to urge the Federal Government not to scrap the Local Government system in Nigeria.  Instead people in the grass root should be empowered to hold the LG administration accountable to the people. This can be achieved by the use of Private initiative e-government on Internet such as in www.9jadream.com
A separate web pages forum of 774 LGA Councils in one forum where people in each LGA can interact with the LG administration-people can send comments, question and reply ton the council administrations. And each LGA council in turn can post the activities, projects and pictures into the forum and people can leave comments and reply.
A good example is the www.9jadream.com which contains web pages for each of the 774 LGA in Nigeria. Government can partner and support such initiative. About 5 volunteers and people can be empowered in each LGA for this purpose and to create awareness, enlighten and to sensitize people and publicize the forum.
When the LG administrations are aware that they are accountable to the people and that the people are aware of the activities of the council, there will be transparency, good governance, true democracy and ultimately development in the LGA.

Why should people think of scraping the local government system? I think it must be greed and the satanic desire to centralize power.
