The arguments against state police is flawed because police officers can be redeployed outside their usual states of operation during elections. Additionally, states police can be made accountable to the federal (IG) of police instead of state governors. The constitution can always be amended

if your state is not ready for state police leave for those states that are ready. Tinubu cannot be everywhere it your state governor who is the chief security officer that you should hold responsible when there is insecurity in your state. Other states have started their security architecture already, security is local so let the local people secure their locality themselves.

I'm afraid, this is likely going to be the scenario in a place like Edo State for instance where even the deputy governor is a cultist. Worse still is that the governor's will not recruit enough personnel but they will recruit enough to manipulate elections. This so called state police will be rubbish. I'm just hoping the state police are not given the powers to prosecute otherwise we are about to witness another satanic era in Nigeria.

It's high time they did that!

Do you mean to say NPF don't have enough personnels? Why not recruit more? Are there no vigilantes the the local government levels? Why not employ more? The police system in Nigeria is rotten, Endsars happened not too long ago and the cause of that protest is still prevalent so why bring in state police that will be mainly cultists loyal to the governors? What has Amotekun achieved thus far, why not adopt that to every state and make improvement where needed instead of outrightly creating state police bringing people's enemies closer to them? All of us must be involved and ensure that not less than the standard of the various police departments in the UK, for instance, is adopted. The police IG must be by election for 4 years of service, not by selection or appointment by the state governor. Not to be elected as a candidate of a political party but as an independent candidate who will be presented for election by the state electoral body upon a fair review of their CV that must be rich with strong security pedigree.
By doing that the control will be in the hands of the people. If you don't do well, your people will send you parking with their vote.
