Former Governor of Abia State and Chairman Senate Committee on Privatization, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has called in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to reconsider its decision to embark on a nationwide protest over lingering hardship in the country.

The Abia North Senator in a video release obtained by ABN TV urged NLC and its affiliate unions to instead explore dialogue with the federal government to press home its demands.

Labour has repeatedly said that the current minimum wage of N30,000 is not in tandem with the current economic reality, which has seen prices of goods and services soar.

It is calling for a review, urging the government to pay N200,000 minimum wage.

Sen. Kalu while admitting that there is hunger all over Nigeria assured that the legislature is working with the executive arm of government to bring measures that will reduce the hardship faced by many Nigerian families.

According to the lawmaker, it is not time for demonstration and destruction of public assets, but to work for the unity of the country.

Any distruction or stealing of people's properties anywhere in Nigeria in the name of protest, AJAERO and all NLC leaders must be arrested immediately

How people are surviving with the paltry minimum wage is a mystery.

The senator is oblivious of what Nigerians are going through.

A recent survey has proven that an emolument of 300k in Nigeria today puts you firmly in the poor social strata.

If you know the level of hunger some people are facing, you won't dare advice them with only the usual failed promises.. people are really hungry, basic needs have become luxury products to families..

I support the NLC strike if they can muster the courage, to atleast have it on record they where on the side of the masses when the chips all fall.. because on a serious note, it is fast falling..

You can see that through their actions and inactions, and most annoying one through their utterance.

There are protests for a reason which you and your goons knows.
No one would bother to protest, if you and your fellow looters were dedicated and doing what’s right for the masses and country.

Who are those Hoarding Naira and Dollars in this country - Politicians
Who are those getting allocations without putting it into good use for the benefit of the country - Politicians
Who are those traveling outside the country always for medical checkups- Politicians
Who are those bribing Delegates in dollars- politicians.

Omo our leaders are the problem, until we put a strict rule against corruption, nothing is happening.
When it comes to looting, the put religious & tribal differences aside and loot.

Their followers follow blindly on empty stomach, meanwhile these politicians have their children oversea feeding fat and partying hard

I just pray the protest should hold. I am a Yoruba man, truth be told, Tinubu really fall my hands. Bayo Onanuga said they paid 5months 35k for palliative and remain only February, that's a fat lie. Govt only paid 2months, they haven't paid Nov, Dec, let more of Jan and Feb. That's wickedness at its peak. That protest must hold abeg.

The sooner Nigerians know these politicians are not fighting for their well being the better they realize they have to stand up to their oppressors.
30k that can’t buy half bag of rice, a whole senator that should beat up the rubber stamp senate president on behalf of his constituency is asking the masses lingering in poverty to dialogue whereas he’s get millions for being stupid and not having any concrete idea on improving lives of his constituents.
