Wonder how NA could have suffered such great casualty without also neutralising some of the attackers.
Poor intelligence gathering probably.

I'm telling you. How come? Untrained people unleashing mayhem on the trained personnels

Why so much northerners?
And again, why didn't they send personnel from that region to settle the difference between the feuding parties? That might have helped.
Can't imagine soldiers of,say,Calabar extraction going to settle feuding Fulani or Hausa warring factions!

I am in no way in support of the killing of military but this lopsidedness is appalling.

But where was the Nigerian police?

How come the police weren't called upon first?

There's no reported case of external aggression, so why was the military the first to get there instead of the police? Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, you so on point.

Is the Nigerian military now trained to settle community issues?

No one is asking these pertinent questions.

While we condemn these acts, this could have been avoided.

Our military is now getting too involved in acts that are under the purview of the Nigerian police force.

Send soldiers to their people. People who speak the same language with them. There will be understanding. A northern soldier cum Muslim sees anyone from South as an infidel who doesn't deserve to share oxygen with him. He is not concerned about keeping peace but exterminations of the people.

The terrorists soldiers no die well.

Only country that kills it innocent citizens because criminals attacked some soldiers.

So, you think soldiers would be killed just like that by some miscreants without any consequence? The heads of those villages and the governor of the state should fish out the criminal elements who killed the soldiers and hand them over to the military if they don't want innocent people (which might include them) to die. With the presidential order, those villages involved won't see or hear voice of human beings for decades to come.

I have been following your comments and you obviously seem to have more empathy for those who killed these soldiers, than the already dead and mutilated 19 soldiers.

You keep talking about how Nigerian army is bad, but not a single criticism of the criminal armed youth of the community that ambushed the soldiers.

West that Fulani has killed many of their Rulers n putting their own leaders..

West that Has been deserted cos of Fulani .. They don't have single Moral ..fear is much in West thats why they can't form any strong resistance

You keep talking about how the Nigerian army is to be blamed for the attack and death of the soldiers because they are not well trained and don't have intel, but have you not heard of American soldiers being ambushed and killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, despite all their good intelligence and weapons?

You keep saying it's a bunkering deal gone wrong and the government is deceiving us that it's a peace keeping mission, as if you have another fact or contrary evidence... and if you do, post evidence online.

You also keep insinuating that the military men (mostly northerners), must have done something bad to the community to warrant this type of revenge, but without citing any evidence too. ... At least the community should have posted what the soldiers did to them previously on the Internet...

I don't know you in person, but from your comments so far, you are not someone to be respected.
You are sounding intelligent but you really are not.

These criminal armed youths are also those who have been responsible for kidnapping innocent family members of people in Southerner part of the country in the past, and killing some of their victims even after collecting ransom.
Maybe it's their turn to die too, and they deserve no sympathy.

The army should be tactical to reduce innocent civilian collateral (though inevitable), and kill as much of the criminal boys as they can.

I'm a Nigerian and I don't hate any part of Nigeria. Have you ever wondered why banditry is in the North, unknown gunmen in the east, criminal armed community youths and militants in the South south, but NOTHING LIKE THIS IS IN THE SOUTH WEST (with solid mineral resources too)?, Ruminate and think about that.....

Crime thrives with community support.

Intelligence gathering would have revealed the potential danger in such venture.
With that, even if they were surprised, they would have fought back.
Losing 15 military personnel just like that calls for some serious post-mortem.

Majority of these guys are from the Middle Belt of Nigeria... Southern Kaduna and others.

The Army must show restraint and use Intel to pick the killers of these gallant men. Drones and reconnaissance aircraft platforms from the Nigerian Air Force have in the recent past been used to gather real-time Intel on terrorist locations with a great deal of accuracy.

Mindless killings everywhere. The criminals that did this would have been long gone from that community leaving the innocent to suffer.
