The Rivers house of Assembly have exercised their powers, after the Governor refused to sign the bill passed within the constitutional 30 days provided.

Now that bill is an act....the Chief of Staff and the Governor should go to court..all these write up no go cut am.

That's not the bone of contention...the executive power of an appointment into into various executive bodies resides with the Governor as enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria..but the state legislature has usurped that power by removing it from the Governor to the state legislature ...that's the bone of contention...if the case is litigated...the state House of Assembly will not win.

After the RHOA bypassed the governor, will they fund the commission by themselves? It's the governor that has the prerogative to apportion funds to the said commission, so bypassing the Governor is not very smart in my view.

Oga, stop coming to a public forum to say rubbish. The power to impeach is duly vested in the legislative arm in conjunction with the judiciary.

The legislature can not appoint executive positions. They can only approve.

Even by common sense, is the legislature suppose to appoint for the executive?

Two wrongs don’t make a right. If Edison and those in the governor’s camp feel the law is unconstitutional, they should approach the court and get the particular section nullified. Edison cannot sit down in his office and declare a law passed by the state house of assembly as null and void. He has no such powers.

The law has been duly passed and it remains the law until a court of competent jurisdiction rule otherwise.

I like the part in bold. Now, tell Fubara and Edison to challenge the law in court. The COS to the governor has no power to declare a law passed by the RSHA null and void. It’s only the court that can do that. They should do the right thing by going to court.

Even at that who will implement the resolution of the House?

Edison Ehie doesn't decide what is null and void, it is the court. Until the court says otherwise, the law stands. The Assembly has the constitutional power to make laws and override the governor's veto or failure to assent.
