A sensible president will get into office study why Nigeria is subsidizing and take steps to make the subsidy go away by itself. By taking care of the refineries stabilizing agriculture to reduce food importation.

By the way, howfar porthacourt refinery??

Won't the president pay a surprised visits to the refineries?

Ohhhhh sorry how president is an old shaking man who can't stand straight.

Yet young promising Nigerians will be supporting such a person and you expect an 80 years old man to build a future for you and your kids in this century.

Shame on you agbadoriansssssssss

If subsidy is back then there should be a corresponding decrease in the price of fuel.

Somebody is not explaining things to us clearly.

How can we subsidized something we produced?

Aren't we producing?

The landing cost of fuel passed the 1000 mark a few months ago, yet pump price is below 700 nationwide

That means there is a subsidy in place.

The problem is, fuel should be costing over 1000 or more by now without subsidy. As per the value of the naira is very high.

What you are asking for is a subsidy payment of over one trillion monthly

this is not the point, you remove subsidy with the claim that it is too expensive, yet you reintroduce it by paying more for it than previous govt, and yet the price is still about three times the previous price, while still lying to the masses with a straight face that subsidy is gone

Is it that difficult to refine crude oil in Nigeria? How do the oil bunkers refine theirs? Is it that the ones they refine are not good enough? If yes, where do they sell it?

If it's good enough, why can't we just ask them to register themselves and clean up their activities a little, that way we'll have a lot of these mini-refineries (I think modular refinery is what it's called), producing PMS for us... That way, the subsidy stuff will be reduced or totally stopped

Just wondering if this stuff is really as difficult as being portrayed

If the subsidy is back it means the petroleum marketers a buying from NNPC(Sole importer) at N250 or less per liter.

Why are Nigerians paying almost N700 per liter at the pump?

The means that the consumers are the once paying the subsidy and not the government.

The govt only pays the subsidy at the point of bulk purchase and recoup the subsidy paid from the marketers. The marketers then recoup the subsidy from everyone of us that buys petrol.

The government fooled all of us.

You see why most of una no day get sense, reintroduced when everything has felling apart, price of fuel is higher than that of some Asia and European countries, with minimum wage not able to cater for such demands, and if the power sector was ok it would have been a little better, try day use sense talk or shout up , do you know the cost of running a generator for six hours everyday

Your idiocy is on another level if you think that the nominal gains of the naira, which is still at a negative is without government backing.

How slow can one be...

To even think you guys are celebrating a nominal improvement is even more shamelezz.

Is it that difficult to refine crude oil in Nigeria? How do the oil bunkers refine theirs? Is it that the ones they refine are not good enough? If yes, where do they sell it?

1.The price controls inherent in fuel subsidy prevent domestic refining of petrol. That is why some of us want subsidy gone

2.Fuel refined illegally is bad for one's car and bad for the environment of the communites, and yes, damm too risky.

If it's good enough, why can't we just ask them to register themselves and clean up their activities a little, that way we'll have a lot of these mini-refineries (I think modular refinery is what it's called), producing PMS for us... That way, the subsidy stuff will be reduced or totally stopped

Regulation means that the cost of refining fuel by the 'illegal entities' is going to go up. LIke now, upgrading their equipment just to meet NESREA standards is going to cost them some money. Not conducive to their business model.

Just wondering if this stuff is really as difficult as being portrayed

It is simple. Remove subsidy totally, good refineries will spring up like weeds in my farm (okay, not a good analogy, but I guess you get the point grin).

People have not been interested in licit refining because right now, if I had a legal refinery , I cannot be refining fuel at over N1000 per liter, and then come and sell it at N700 to market. Am I ment.?
