What Is The Main Purpose Of Marriage? by kasiem(m): 12:44pm On Nov 29, 2011
Formerly, the main purpose of marriage was procreation, that's why our fathers were polygamous in order to have many children and efforts were expedited to replace any barren woman with another wife. But, the advent of civilization brought many meaning and purposes to this sacred unio. unlike what it was. Some folks see the main purpose of it as companionship, making them not care about children alot, while, some see it serving the purpose of sexx, that's why we have cases of same-sex marriage. So, i want to know the main purpose of marriage in this modern world.

Marriage brings into existence the family unit, the family circle. You can not truly start a family if you are not married. It is also designed to form a permanent bond of union between man and woman, that they might be mutually helpful to each other. Getting married makes your spouse the closest relative, friend, confidant you can ever have on earth, unless of course you want to keep lying to yourself. When a man and woman live together in love and confidence, they could enjoy great happiness, with or without children, and because it is meant to be a permanent bond, (till death do us part) people really committed to making their marriages work, would look for a way of solving any catastrophe that could arise, instead of hightailing, or looking for a cheap excuse, to bail themselves out of the marriage. A sense of commitment brings a sense of security. I dont want to say that children are the sole purpose of marriage, cos sometimes, people end up not having children, and they are still happy in the relationship.(very rare though). But children born under the marital arrangement have a better chance of being taken care of, as opposed to those born out of wedlock, where there was no prior commitment. We'll reduce the rate of bastards if children were more often than not, born within the confines of marriage. . .

If you dont respect the institution of marriage, or dont understand the semantics of marriage, you have no business getting married. Getting married on the excuse of companionship alone, free sex, free laundry, free house maid, and all those nonsense some idiots are fond of saying, is just a pitiably childish approach to the institution.

Marriage gives a woman a sense of security, and a sense of being accountable to someone. If you really want to be independent, and all that crappy singsong about independence, pls happily remain single. But once you get married, you have come under the law of your husband. . . You become accountable to him, and him alone!

There's no excuse for infidelity/extra marital affairs. . .

In my opinion, it's better to remain unmarried and have your freedom, than get married and complain of Subjugation, denial of freedom, belching wife or crying baby! It's arrant nonsense!
Remain unmarried and enjoy your promiscuity and wanton gallivanting! Marriage has no space for such! If you really dont understand the semantics of marriage or the rationale behind it, you have NO BUSINESS whatsoever, getting married and subjecting your wife to unnecessary heartaches!
