When Wole Soyinka protested that the civil war was an 'ego' war between ojukwu and Gowon,he was locked in Jail by Gowon, they incacerated him and still went on to kill millions during that senseless war.
Fast forward to 2011,the man whose lack of decorous engagement resulted in the war and subsequent killing of millions is being shamelessly praised for his 'bravery' and brilliance shocked shocked

I think it is an insult to celebrate this man's death,it is like Liberians/Serria-leone celebrating Charles Taylor.

Ojukwu in all moral sense, does not deserve a national burial. His hands carry the blood stain of innocent souls!

Alleged Kidnappers Docked
Abibatu Sanusi, 39, and Aibano Ayotunde, 49, were on Friday arraigned before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged unlawful confining and depriving the liberty of one Blessing Ukeh.
The Prosecutor, Mr. James Okorie, told the court that the accused persons sometime in May, 2011, at Ayoredex Medical Centre, 66, Boladale St., conspired to confine 18-year old Ukeh by locking her up.
Okorie said that the accused persons had deprived the victim of her liberty by forcefully detaining her in an uncompleted building with intent to obtain money from her parents.
He said Ukeh was confined in the building for one week and that she was traumatised to the extent of attempting suicide by drinking a substance suspected to be petrol.
Okorie said following police investigation, the accused persons were arrested and detained.
He said the offence was contrary to Sections 517, 365 and 327 of the Criminal Code.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused persons, Mr. Olarenwaju Ayo, applied for their bail.
Magistrate Paul Ojo, granted them bail in the sum of N250, 000 and one surety in like sum each, and adjourned the case to December 14 for trial.

And this happened a few years ago

5 Igbo traders abducted in Owo

Sunday Kudaisi, Akure

Kidnapping which is fast becoming a way of life in the riverine oil producing areas of Ondo State, at the weekend, spread to the ancient city of Owo, as suspected armed youths abducted five Igbo traders.

The victims who were alleged to have been kidnapped on September 6 were released at the weekend after an undisclosed huge ransom was allegedly paid by the Owo Igbo community.

Those kidnapped included Messrs Okechukwu Okafor, Mike, Chigozie Nwanekezi and Monday Agboh.

Chairman of the Igbo community in Owo Mr Eze Chidozie, said several Igbos operating in the town had closed down business, adding that they will not open for business until government security agents assure them that their lives are safe.

The kidnappers allegedly consented to release of the abducted people after the intervention of Olowo of Owo, Oba Olateru Olagbegi, the Ojomoluda of Ijebu Owo, Oba……Ojomo and some notable Owo chieftains.

The Igbo community in Owo, who however protested to the State police commissioner, Charles Dawodu, after the release of their kinsmen, narrated how the militant youths alleged to be palace boys, Eyin Ogbe boys and Iloro youths made life unbearable for the Igbo people living in Owo kingdom.

Chidozie told journalists in Akure that the militant youths had in the last one year, kidnapped 16 Igbo people and demanded huge sums of money which they paid.

He said: "They just enter our stores carry our goods and ask us to pay certain amount of money before they will release the items and any attempt to argue with them, they will just bundled that person and take him to their cell.

"Thereafter, they will be demanding for money ranging from N100, 000 and above and they will not release the victim until their demand is met."

The Igbo community also alleged that the ugly development had lead to the death of two traders, saying the militants have turned it to be their rights to be entering shops operated by the Igbo traders and threatening to kill or maim them if they (the Igbo traders) don’t meet their demands.

The target of the militants is especially those that are into timber business, electronics, medicines and motor spare parts.

The intimidation and harassment he said have been reported to the Olowo and Ojomoluda but that the looting spree of Igbo shops with impunity have not been stopped.

The chairman appealed to the state police commissioner to rescue the Igbo from the hands of the militants who had turned kidnapping and looting of Igbo store to source of their daily income.

Chiedozie noted that such actions will strain the cordial relationship between the Owo people and the Igbo traders in the town. Adding that all Igbo people in Ondo State would today (Monday) storm Owo and join their kinsmen on a peace protest against the activities of the militants.

Confirming the incident, the state Mr. Dawodu said the victims of the alleged kidnapped never reported the cases to the police.

Daudu said the victims had been keeping the information to themselves, noting that now that it’s getting out of their hands that they took the appropriate step of reporting to the police.

The police boss assured the people that the criminal incident would not recur, saying he had contacted the monarch of the ancient city and other prominent traditional chiefs to stamp out the heinous activities of the illegal militant youths.

I am a focused poster and I wont embellish crime or injustice unlike you.If any man commits any crime, let him face the music, irrespective of the tribe. However,my emphasis is that Ojukwu lived long enough till old age but the poor felas killed in the war are being insulted by the praises being showered on ikemba,I think the ibo should be sensitive to the loss of families that lost their loved ones in that silly ojukwu war.

nigerians will resist the immortalisation of a murderer like Ikemba.

no loss suffered by the ojukwu is as great as the loss suffered by the members of the family of those killed in his senseless war.

All nairalanders who lost family members in that senseless war dont find the hypocritical praises on ojukwu funny.ori o ju ori.

@ OP

Ojukwu this,Ojukwu that.See Ojukwu is dead and Gone. His legacies will forever live with his people.what have your leaders done for you.Am sure if OBJ,IBB,GOWON,DANJUMA and the rest walk on the streets, they will be stoned to death by their people.because they have chosen gold over a good name

Atleast Awo tried,he gave his people a legacy(free education, equity and justice + betrayal and tribalism which is common among his people.)

What legacies did OBJ gave(Inbreeding, corruption, murder, adultery, occultism, lunatisim, genocide  the list is endless).

Gowon(stupidity, carelessness, indecision, mumuboy for Hausa/fulani,Illiteracy,corruption,state creation, murder, genocide, violence in jos which are now hunting him and his people. his list is endless also

IBB ( same as obj)

Danjuma(same as gowon)

Ojukwu(selflessness, leadership, strength, hope for his people, justice, brotherliness, solidarity, self confidence which is often seen as pride, fearlessness,Africanism which fela also calmours for, invention, self reliant, contentment, hard work, equity and justice, fight against corruption, racism, tribalism and oppression)you can read more on him if you haven't

This is a strong motivational word from him and i qoute

“In the three years of war, necessity gave birth to invention. During those three years, we built bombs, we built rockets, we designed and built our own delivery systems. We guided our rockets, we guided them far, and we guided them accurately. For three years, blockaded without hope of imports, we maintained engines, machines, and technical equipment. The state extracted and refined petrol, individuals refined petrol in their back gardens, we built and maintained airports, we maintained them under heavy bombardment. We spoke to the world through a telecommunications system engineered by local ingenuity. The world heard us and spoke back to us. We built armored cars and tanks. We modified aircraft from trainer to fighters, from passenger aircraft to bombers. In three years of freedom, we had broken the technological barrier. In three years, we became the most civilized; the most technologically advanced black people on earth.” - Ojukwu's quotes, in Kansas City Post

War is war.people must die.the war was inevitable.by the way his people lost the most and they are not complaining rather they are praising him.so why are you killing your self over him?

IBB,GOWON,OBJ and the rest have not kill their people in a war but still the don't have the love of their people.they will be sorrowful even in death because of the atrocities they have committed against the children of God.

if you are not happy with Ojukwu.shut up and face your own life, find how you will be a better person to yourself, family, community and nation in general especailly in this harsh economic times rather than condemn the dead when you know you will die one day.

come day, come night.Ojukwu legacies will always be with his people and for those that feel insulted by the praises Ojukwu is getting, they should go and bury their heads in shame.we shall see the praises they will get in their own time.i don't wish them death cos i pray to live long also.

BTW,if you don't,know the more trend people open on Ojukwu the more important him becomes.if he is not,you will not open a trend on him.you opened a trend on him(ojukwu) to draw attention to your self which show how popular and heroic he is.

since the announcement of his death if you have not observed, the media has been using his name to sell their news which, will tell you he is the most celebrated military personnel.dead or alive(Celeb 4 u)

stop whining on issue that are beyond you and you can't change so get a life.

You claimed here on this forum that NCNC won convincingly the 1951 regional election in western nigeria and i asked you for your evidence.

election. Obviously, you don't have anything to back up your spurious allegations as its been over 5 weeks now and yet you have not been
