Werder Bremen striker Claudio Pizarro could well be fit to face his former club Bayern Munich tomorrow, although Toni Kroos is unlikely to figure in the hosts' team.

Pizarro wore the red of Bayern between 2001 and 2007, scoring 71 times in 174 appearances before moving to Chelsea.

Since returning to Bremen, he has found the back of the net 53 times in 86 matches, but he was a doubt for tomorrow's trip to the Allianz Arena due to a knee injury which he claimed would keep him out for the rest of 2011, whereas his club doctors said he could be back in no time.

It seems like the doctors may have been right, though, as the Peruvian striker came through his first training session in over a week yesterday.

"Of course he is extremely important to us and we hope that he can return against Bayern,'' said Pizarro's team-mate Clemens Fritz on his club's website.His coach Thomas Schaaf said he was "looking good'' in training and he has included Pizarro in his squad for what he labelled the most attractive fixture on the calendar.

"It is always something special to challenge the best team in Germany,'' he said.

"At the moment, we are in a good position and I hope this does not get dampened.

"But we have got to focus on our own strengths and if we show enough conviction, and do our own jobs consequentially, then we can make life difficult for anybody.''

Bremen have made the trip south without goalkeeper Tim Wiese, who has been given leave for a family bereavement. Sebastian Mielitz will take his place in goal.

Kroos is Jupp Heynckes' biggest doubt tomorrow due to the flu, although the Bayern coach himself needs to shake off the same virus which has kept him away from the training ground a few days this week.

His assistant Peter Hermann led the training sessions in Heynckes' absence and he had a scare when Mario Gomez took a knock to his shin in a tackle with Anatoli Tymoschuk, but the Germany international is not a doubt tomorrow.
