Do you have pets? How seriously do you take them? I know people who've cried when they lost their pets. Should pets be considered as part of the family? Do you consider your pets as part of the family? 1 Like |

yeah, our pets are part of our family, we have a dog(Risky) and a cat(peace). i almost cried when i mistakenly hit Risky with a car n he was wounded, he cldn't go anywhere, i missed seeing him welcome me anytime i close from work. we have a nice place for them to sleep. we treat them as ourselves, they are very disciplined and make home lively even whn there's nobody. i get very pissed when they are not fed well. for me, our pet is a member of my family |

cammax7: hmmh, I used to keep and love pets so dearly, not until one of my best pet(a dog) DIED in an auto accident! Oops, I wept badly and felt terribly sorry for the poor thing. I knew I caused it because I didn't send it back to the house when it was following me out but, decided to make it accompany me to where I was going. Alas, a car from 'only God knows where' came over and hit it. It sustained some major injury and died some minutes later. I just couldn't help it but wept profusely on my way back home and each time I remember the scene I feel bad. It was such a lovely pet, so daring . I've got 2 left now (Jackie & Billy) but i censor my love towards them . Such that I won't be pained that much if I lose any. cammax7: The consideration depends on individual! As per moi, I don't consider them as part of my family but as pet!!! |

I have pets and they ARE a part of the family, I have four dogs at the moment - Spice, JJ (John Bull Junior - his dad passed on this year), Feytey & Dudu. Spice is currently heavy AGAIN! We love them so dearly - JJ is just recovering from an auto accident which almost cost him one of his legs! We involve them in all our activities, they are family! |

I think pets should be just pets, and not elevated to the status of a 'member of the family'. Do you know how much money is spent on pets in a household that could've been spent on a REAL member of the family? Anyways the one way annoy me pass here in good ol' US of A is when I see pets with health insurance and their own 'doctors', what kind of nonsense is that? when there are millions of people who don't even have health insurance. Take care of real people first then u can spend leftovers on pets, not the other way round. And the worst I hate is when you ask someone "do you have any children?" they say "no, but I have a dog/cat" WHAT?! is an animal supposed to now equate a human being? Orishirishi! |

JeSoul: I AGREE WITH YOU 100% , But then, I do not understand the NEED for people to have PETS as family Member. If you ask me, I think it is one of the CREEPIEST things ever, even worse when the people who claim these pets are part of the Family are NIGERIANS. |
Re: Pets As Part Of The Family? by JeSoul(f): 8:35pm On Sep 28, 2007 |
hmmm I'd heard of people who complained their comments were edited, looks like someone edited mine Kobojunkie cos I had mentioned I agreed with you, though ur humor might draw some displeased pet owners, Kobojunkie: lol, Africans are not generally known for having pets, true that. To each his own i suppose, people do weird things don't they? |

We had a Great Pyrenees she died 2.5years ago, i was away at uni and my mom called she told me she found crystal dead in the backyard 2 weeks after she had sugery. i wept for that dog for days me and my mother would stay on the phone crying for her. i still miss her. Funny thing is I'm scared of dogs, but whenever i came around her i just knew she wouldnt hurt me. We took special care of our dog, she had regular doctor appointment, baths, eat good food, had a nice doggie house, we gave her our last name also I dont think its much to do these kinds of things for your pet. When you get them they become part of your family. you should be taking proper care of them. ~ Damn i miss my dog |

Some people love pets more than humans, like a typical american or british redneck who will prefer his or her pet to a black person. Some times i don't blame people that love pet more than humans, because humans in some cases are not just as intelligent as animals be it white or black. However, pet is not a black man thing yet,we are laden with basic issues of life, trying to survive to be bothered with pets, people will rather breed dogs for" ODE"the name for dog delicacy in my place of origin, very tasty to those who eat, personally i don't because my family have always had dogs as pets, kind of guard dogs. |

Well I had a dog called snoopy but my parents doesn't treat it like a family , when he died everyone just moved on like nothing happened . And I had a parrot, very cute bird, moms forgot to feed it for like a week, poor bird died and that was the end . But I don't think a dog should be a replacement to us human beings because they are just animals |

hi every one, we must understand that some pets, especially dogs, are naturally pack/ group animals. they find their position in the the group or family . some breeds will enforce the authourity of their position or protect members of their pack to death. that is why some breeds are not too good with children whom they see as subordinates and wiil attack if challenged by a child whom they feel is lower in position than they are. i had a very intelligent shepherd who passed on 10 weeks back. i had it from the age of two months for almost three years. it will tear anything that seem a threat to me in any way to shreds and will defend our teritory to death. it just refused to be consoled that i was away for a week on course and refused to do anything where it was boarded while i was away. even my speaking with it on speaker phone made it worse as the handler said i should fly in so it can sight me and maybe come alive and sustain a few more days. it passed on the day before i returned. just lay down and refused to wake up. i wept as the text msg came through. my colleagues read it and to their amusement, it was only chelsea - that frisky bitch. whether you make them part of the family or not they are. |

MY Pets are always ARE part of the family. If it lives in my house and I spend any of my hard earned money on it, then I will treat it right and consider it family. My pet HAMSTER poked his eye out my accidently last week. I actually called a few people to ask them to pray for him. I cried for him when I saw it- he is sooo cute, but now my kids say he looks too gross to play with. I feel sorry for him that he is being rejected. "Let everything that has breathe, praise ye the Lord."m (IF IT CAN PRAISE THE LORD, THEN God used an ass to speak to Saul. God appointed man to be careteakers and rulers of the animals. |

I use to have a dog, he is late now, his name was KIZITO. I have a puppy Dog now and his name is ARAGON. The way he jumps at me in the morning to say good morning, and when i check on him after work gives me an exciting feeling. Pets have been known to rejoice with you in happytimes and also stay with you in time of trouble. HOW ELSE DO YOU DESCRIBE A PART OF THE FAMILY? I do everything fun with my Aragon oh. Like taking pictures and fooling arround in front of the camera, you know! hmn, even my girlfriend sometimes gets jelous when i bring Aragon jist into our discusions, I think pets can be regarded as part of the family. I have this Rap-Poen i wrote for my late dog - KIZITO I got this dog and i name him KIZITO He's just too much, he even calls me PAPILO Always Licking my feet and resting on them comfortably like a PILOW bla lba bla. i cant realy remember the lines agian. realy, pets are realy interesting to have and for those that realy dont feel kul with the idea of calling pets part of the family, you need ot have one and reconsider, |

Buy a book about how to raise and train dogs. You'll love them once you understand them. |
Re: Pets As Part Of The Family? by omoge(f): 5:16pm On Oct 10, 2007 |
what i don't understand are those with Asthma having pets. imagine having that with 2 cats and two dogs! i have seen it and can only shake my head. some nigs are not good with animal. imagine a Nigerian lady, who invited me to her home after class for lunch. on opening the door, there was an awful smell. guess what? the dog shit on her imported couch. gosh!! i was no longer hungry. she was complaining of not having time to walk it and the dog always shit inside the house (kitchen, bedroom and living room). i like poodles but i don't plan on owing one. smell of dogs put me off. their mouth and body em em. kudos to those that kiss and hug their dogs |
Re: Pets As Part Of The Family? by omoge25(f): 4:57am On Oct 11, 2007 |
omoge: I cant do that, i loved my dog so much but i just cant kiss her, i dont mind the hugs from her because she was a big dog, when she stood on 2legs she was my height, so hugs were cool but no kiss business that one i push her away. |

I don't have any time nor resources to elevate any animal to pet level. There's just too many human suffering in the world especially Africa to devote serious thought to animals, except as a source of nutrition for humans. |

Sorry! No animals in the house--they stink too much! High cost of maintenance--sheer waste of money. Maybe a turtle or a lizard. Something small. Nothing with hair please! |
