ADO-EKITI—The Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of Ekiti State Government has been jerked up by some 500 per cent, as the state now realises about N600 million monthly.

The state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi disclosed this in Ado Ekiti yesterday.

He siad that the federal revenue accruable to the state stood at the region of N109 million on monthly basis.

The governor said his government has introduced a number of tax regime among which are, the Pay -As -You -Earn, PAYE, compelling contractors to pay their workers in the state, cutting of excesses through the payment to the state treasury through E-payment etc, expressing the hope that the state IGR will soon hit one billion naira on monthly basis

Fayemi further disclosed that his administration would focus on education, health and agriculture in the coming year, adding that the free health programme would operate in all general hospitals in the state.

The governor further disclosed that the emergency unit in government hospitals would be given a facelift.

He further disclosed that various dams in the state ,especially Ero, Itapaji and Egbe Dam would be given a lift in the coming year, adding that there would be adequate water supply to all the new locations in the various parts of the state

On the proposal of the federal government to remove oil subsidy,Fayemi said though, his party has opposed it , saying it was a policy of the federal government.

Fayemi who described the fuel subsidy as a corruption subsidy, describing it as a huge scam that should be condemned by all well meaning Nigerians.
