http://www.punchng.com/index.php/news/item/9231-police-deny-unn-bomb-attempt Police deny UNN bomb attempt Written by Ozioma Ubabukoh, Enugu The police have denied there was an attempt by any individual or group to bomb the University of Nigeria, Nsukka on Tuesday. Enugu State Police Command said this in a reaction to reports in the media that a vigilance group arrested a suspected member of Boko Haram while trying to bomb the university from a nearby bush. The Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told our correspondent on Wednesday that it was wrong to accuse the suspect of such a crime. He claimed that the vigilance group did not find any arm or device on the suspect. He said, “The Hausaman was found in a bush at Udenu, which is 30 kilometres from the school (UNN). If he had any plans of bombing the university, he would have stayed in a bush close to the university and not very far from the university. “The vigilance group probably saw him as a suspect because the man in question is a bit insane and could not give answers to their questions in English, other than in Hausa. “There was no arm, device or anything traceable to Boko Haram that was found on him.” The PPRO, however, said the police would take the suspect to a psychiatric hospital to ascertain his mental health status, after which it would launch an investigation to establish his full identity and his mission in the state. |

Igbos should not fall for this gambit the said guy was on a reconnaissance That was to check if and how porous the South East Borders were The Hausaman was found in a bush at Udenu, which is 30 kilometres from the school (UNN). If he had any plans of bombing the university, he would have stayed in a bush close to the university and not very far from the university.is the bush , the place where Mad people are found. Thank God for the alertness of Eagle eyed Vigilante in the South East . i think this should serve as a serious Yellow Card to all the Fulani people on Reconnaissance tour of the SE |

I don't know if anyone has noticed, but there has been an attempt to discredit the south-east by the media by carrying all sorts of bomb related stories that always turn up to be false. There was a bomb that was alleged to have been dropped by an helicopter somewhere in Enugu. There was also a bomb scare at the newly commissioned Shoprite complex. |

Nchara: Such a ridiculous statement. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Afam4eva(m): 12:45pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
27naira: Very ridiculous indeed asking a Nigerian what his mission in Nigeria is. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by chibest5(m): 12:46pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
That is how we Nigerians take things for granted until people die, have this people not done enough damage for us to stop doubting if they are for real what kind of country in this? |

The vigilantee are just trying to get cheap publicity to impress their employer dat they are working hard, To me they should be caution, if not they will end killing an innocent person, all because looking for boko bomber. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by slap1(m): 1:41pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
The Nigerian police sponsored the story, I think, then the journalist screwed up by churning out a badly-written story. . .so the police gotta save face by denying the whole thing. Buncha cowards! |

Everybody knew it was a badly concocted story |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by ProfJYK(m): 5:51pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
afam4eva: unbelievably ridiculous. they people open thier mouths and the wrong things come out. spending the much needed scarce govt resources to "launch an investigation" into a mans motive in his country after already quelling rumours that he is not a bomber and wasn't found with any IED as earlier rumoured. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Obiagu1(m): 6:09pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
27naira: afam4eva: You guys are not serious. I'm really disappointed. Do the SE have a border with the any Hausa/Fulani community? Does that man live anywhere in the SE or neighbouring states? If he is a herdsman, where are his cattle? As far as I'm concerned, there's 50/50 chance he was on a reconnaissance mission. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by dayokanu(m): 6:11pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
^^ maybe they should start asking every Ibo in other parts of Nigeria what their mission is Especially those in SW that has no borders with the SE, Those in the North like Kano, Jos, kaduna Abuja that have no borders to the SE |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Obiagu1(m): 6:12pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
^^^ Can you reason at all you dunce! WTF is he doing in the bush Obiagu1: |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Afam4eva(m): 6:14pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
dayokanu: Exactly. They should also ask people that live in states other than theirs what their mission is to those states. Every Nigerian has the right to live wherever they choose. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Afam4eva(m): 6:14pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
Obiagu1: What if it were an Igbo guy that was found in the bush? Would he also be termed a terrorist? |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Obiagu1(m): 6:23pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
afam4eva: Is he the only Hausa/Fulani man in Nsukka or the SE or you think they go about hunting people down? You should know where that bush is. When you answer these 3 questions, then you'll start seeing the possibilities of who he was. 1) Do the SE have a border with the any Hausa/Fulani community? 2) Does that man live anywhere in the SE or neighbouring states? 3) If he is a herdsman, where are his cattle? |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by EzeUche(m): 6:28pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
I don't mind vigilante groups in the South-East checking every Northerner. We have to be very careful with these people. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Afam4eva(m): 6:30pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
EzeUche: Please let's talk like educated people here. In as much that i support vigilante groups, i don't think northerners should be singled out for humilation. It's not a crime to be a northerner. there are millions of innocent northerners. That some northerners are disgracing themselves does not make every northerner bad. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by EzeUche(m): 6:33pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
afam4eva: My brother I strongly disagree with you. While our people are not given peace in their region, you want them to be in peace in our region. That is a big mistake that Ojukwu did and we will not make the same mistake. That is a weak man's mentality. We will not hold ourselves to a higher standard and will fight fire with fire. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Obiagu1(m): 6:46pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
EzeUche: I disagree with that too. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by dayokanu(m): 6:47pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
Obiagu1: Should they start quizzing any Ibo man not within a building in the North and SW too? |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Obiagu1(m): 6:50pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
@ Afam, have you run into any vigilante in the SE before? |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Afam4eva(m): 6:55pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
Obiagu1: Yes, i have. In Enugu and Aba. |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by EzeUche(m): 7:04pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
I do not think we Igbos are doing enough. How can they live in peace within our land, while our people are slaughtered like lambs in their region? |
Re: Police Deny UNN Bomb Attempt by Obiagu1(m): 7:06pm On Dec 29, 2011 |
afam4eva: What's your experience like? What did they ask you? |
