latest news few hours ago, youths came in large numbers to AIT studios. At first they tried entering through the main gates. Thank God for the police men,who brought order to the situation. The camera men and reporters came out after some time,to cover the situation. Youths are getting angrier by the moments. Jonathan you still have the chance to reverse your statement.it is still early now.listen to the voice of the people. Democracy! Democracy! |

There isnt any money to work it. That is why GEJ is adamant. Except you guys want to continuw with what is was before. This is the best act any President could undertake. I only wish He gave Nigerians power before this. |

i dont just understand some people o! How can you wake up one morning to find out that a comodity you bought for N65 the previous day has suddenly been hiked to incredulous N140 in the name of subsidy removal and you say its normal. Some people can just be unbelievable o .how can people allow themselves to easily get brainwashed like this? Now i believe that even if the price was increased to N500 per litre some people go still support am. Tufiakwa!! |

i dont just understand some people o! Mikuz. You are looking at the surface. Without complete subsidy removal, Nigeria will never grow. Ever wonder why wealthy folks do not go into agriculture, solid mineral and building of industries. Because petrol get you cheap profits. My only problem was that GEJ could have fixed road and power. But I tell you, no money again except for salary paying. And Nigerians are very wicked to themselves, fuel has been double and a bus driver increases price from N50 to N100- N200 like fuel is all that count in transport operations. Mscheeew |
Re: Protesters At AIT Studios In Alagbado, Lagos by Gbawe: 4:39pm On Jan 12, 2012 |
mikuz: Don't mind them. I think it is important we note that many don't really understand issues and are just supporting GEJ blindly because of the notion "he is our son" and "Na our oil". Otedola, below, as an involved Party knowledgeable about the problem and solutions required, suggest that Nigeria can save $4 billion a year if the NNPC directly negotiate with foreign refineries and cut out all the marketers !!! I think we all know why the FG is not interested in solutions like this and many others i.e corruption !!! With marketers out of business, the gravy train comes to a halt for the likes of Otedola and many high up in Government who now own marketer firms via fronts or have considerable interests in the activities involving the importation of refined oil. How anyone can then support something that only punishes ordinary Nigerians while business still "dey kampe" for the owners of Nigeria? GEJ has simply chosen the option that punishes Nigerians yet keeps things "business as usual" for him and "the owners of Nigeria". It is a shame ethnic and sectional sentiments has blinded many Nigerians from seeing this. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/fuel-subsidy-rip-offs-wikileaks-reveals-how-nnpc-cost-nigeria-billions-dollars Fuel Subsidy Rip-Offs: Wikileaks Reveals How NNPC Cost Nigeria Billions of Dollars |

one by one each minister, the soon be ex president should remove 70percent of their income anually removin fuel subsidy cant solve our problem now. You cant expect to use fuel money to solve money issues.dont deceive us |
Re: Protesters At AIT Studios In Alagbado, Lagos by 9jaIhail(m): 4:53pm On Jan 12, 2012 |
YOU ALL ARE VERY SILLY AND LAZY,BECAUSE GEJ IS A GENTLE MAN,IF THIS IS OBJ REGIME WHO AMONG YOU WILL STEP OUT TO PROTEST WHEN YOU KNOW HOW HE WOULD DEAL WITH YOU LAZY AZZ.SUBSIDY IS GONE AND IT'S GONE FOR GOOD. LABOUR IS CORRUPT,WHEN KEROSENE INCREASED DID YOUR SO CALL LABOUR PROTEST? NO BECAUSE THEY DON'T USE KEROSENE NOW THEY MOB YOU DUMP HEADS TO PROTEST BECAUSE FUEL AFFECT THEM |
Re: Protesters At AIT Studios In Alagbado, Lagos by Mayflowa(m): 5:11pm On Jan 12, 2012 |
Gbewe, what are you saying. I think we saying same stuff. Considering the complex nature of Nigeria. There is no way corruption could be eliminated from the sector without complete removal of subsidy weather Government negotiate directly or not from producers of the refined fuel. Nigerians workers wud always compromise. Jonathan wouldn't go and oversee their work everyday. Importantly, With subsidy in place, no one dare dream of building private refinery! But with its removal, oil market will thrive and there would be more employment opportunities. This has to be complete removal. BTW, do you know how much of our oil that goes to neigboring countries? We virtually subdidize oil price for more than four countries. |

Re: Protesters At AIT Studios In Alagbado, Lagos by Oyawuni(m): 5:57pm On Jan 12, 2012 |
Let us remind ourselves the reason for this showdown. It is not about subsidy, I keep repeating this fact. It is about the following indices that make our government big, wasteful and ineffective: Big and overblown governments at all levels 70 Ministers Over twenty Special advisers (on what?) Every minister is entitled to 4 Special Assistants. Senate President earns 88 Million Naira monthly. His Deputy Earns 55 Million Naira monthly. Senators take home 14 Million Naira monthly. It takes 1.4 Billion naira to maintain the NASS annually (Remember what Sanusi said about 25% of our GDP is used to feed people who only sit Tuesday – Thursday). Our Governors exhibit such level of opulence shunned by the richest nations in the world Our 2012 budget has a deficit component to it. We are supposed to borrow about 1.6 TRILLION NAIRA. NASS will be paid from that! Aso Rock will use 1 Billion of it to eat! Aso Rock will use another 1 Billion to fuel generators. The Vice President will use 58 Million Naira to buy newspapers. The office of Patience Jonathan will use 500 Million to speak bad English to you. We will spend close to 500 Billion on International Travels. In 2012, some state governors will collect 100 Million as security votes MONTHLY. They will continue to enjoy immunity clause! Your hospitals will have no drugs. Your schools will still have no quality to train a world class scholar Your roads will still be death traps. You will still be a local government unto yourself, providing water, security, power and social security! You will still pay more for petroleum products. You will pay toll in 2012 on federal interstate roads. If you will like this to continue in 2012, then stay at home and enjoy power as provided by PHCN! |

Re: Protesters At AIT Studios In Alagbado, Lagos by Mayflowa(m): 6:45pm On Jan 12, 2012 |
^^^ So it is very difficult for you to accept opposing views. You want every one else to support your thinking and course? Sorry, I beg to differ. Am not rich too. Just an ordinary Nigerian like you. You would never understand how money are siphoned because of subsidy. Do you think it is up to N400billion that should go for subsidy? But I tell you few people are ripping the country of over I trillion naira. Your Govt cant do nothing. It is not abt GEJ. None has ever done nothing about it rather they join them. Gej do not want to join them! If you were there, these guys would either compromise you or sack you if you dont play ball. If you want investment in other sector and diversified economy. Support his course and tell your transporter to be fair to themselves. |
