Please think carefully how General Buhari was able to sell petrol at just 50k /litre without claiming to be subisidising fuel even at a time when oil prices was a tiny fraction of present oil prices.

Please think very carefully about this and realise we are being decieved about the fact that fuel is being subsidised.

What we are doing is subsidising corruption of looting whilst we live without basic amenities.

I also remember under Umaru Dikko and Shagari - a can of peak milk sold 5 kobo but before Buhari left in 2005 - a can of milk was sold at 50 kobo or more.

How come you have so much affinity for Buhari?
Re: Fuel Sold At 50 kobo per litre Under General Buhari (without Subsidy) by Nobody: 5:16am On Aug 14, 2012
I have an affinity to great leaders with integrity.
I detest the campaign by people who have done well out of corruption to demonise him.
Just as I am also passionately against the unfair demonisation of Abacha who was one of our better leaders.

GenBuhari, please be reasonable this time, atleast for once. Buhari's govt could do that because the naira was strong and matched most foreign currencies in strength.
We are talking of a time when a HND holder in a good number of Federal parastatal could buy a new Volkswagen or Pasat from Leventis with one salary. How many graduate with Bsc today can buy a common made-in-china Motocycle with two salaries combined?
The fact that Buhari decided not to subsidize crude oil doesn't mean he is responsible or a honest, to me.

Well why not ask yourself why Buhari was able to maintain a strong Naira?
Simple - he refused to have it devalued.

Did you know that Obasanjo devalued the Naira by 500% (Five hundred percent)
Babangida devalued the Naira by 2000% (two thousand percent)

Important point here is that despite the very low price of fuel then, Buhari maintains that fuel price has never ever been subsidised.

So the idea of subsidy removal is a way to hike fuel prices and embezzle the additional revenue realised.

What matters is that govt before Buhari did not devalue, beyond reasonable limits, the Naira and that is the reason Buhari could play the no-subsidy game. The average man could still afford to earn well, a feat that had no connection with the Buhari regime.

True, but the government of shehu Shagari was about to take IMF loans which would have meant they would have to agree to devaluation. When Buhari was told to devalue Naira as a condition of the IMF loan he rejected the loan.

No doubt IMF is one 'questionable' body with a rep for bad policies and Buhari did well to avoid them. But Buhari was a beneficiary of the previous administrations.

How is a beneficiary, when he recieved inflation rate of 39% which he brought down to 3%
He received administration riddled in corruption and Buhari had to imprison hundreds of Politicians officials and business men to get corruption under control.
