A large water tank has two inlet pipes (a large one and a small one) and one outlet pipe. It takes 2 hours to fill the tank with the large inlet pipe. On the other hand, it takes 6 hours to fill the tank with the small inlet pipe. The outlet pipe allows the full tank to be emptied in 8 hours.
What fraction of the tank (initially half-full) will be filled in 0.46 hours if all three pipes are in operation?

In one hour (1/2+1/3-1/4)=5/6
In two hours (5/6*2)=10/3
In 0.46hours (10/3*0.46)=1.53

That's not the answer. The answer should be asking " If I was here 10 minutes ago, which way would you tell me to go?"
Now the good one will always tell the truth (+ * + = +)
while the bad man would initially lie then, and would also want to lie again about it ( - * - =+) thereby giving you the truth!

Ans:

large inlet fills 0.5 tank in 1 hr
small inlet fils 0.5 tank in 1/3 hr
outlet discharges 0.5 tank in 1/4 hrs

x= 1/2 tank + 1/2 * [0.46 (1+1/3-1/4)]tank
= 3/4

What fraction of the tank (initially half-full) will be filled in 0.46 hours if all three pipes are in operation?

Big pipe fills  1/2  tank in 1 hour
Small pipe fills  1/6  tank in 1 hour
Outlet pipe reduces  1/8 tank in 1 hour
Water addition to tank  in 1 hour =(1/2  +  1/6  -1/cool  =  13/24  tank volume
Water addition to tank in 0.46 hour  = 0.46* (  13/24 )     =  46/100   *  (13/24)   =          598/2400 =  299/1200
Tank   initially half full =1/2 initially full or 600/1200 initially full
Tank fraction full after 0.46 hours  =   (600/1200)  + (299/1200)   =  899/1200.    Ans =899/1200

If you mean exactly 1, then 3:

Chicken 1 <----------- Chicken 2 <--------- Chicken 3

If possibly more than 1, then any # of chickens >= 3.

A town has a set of twins (1 is notorious for lying
and one for always telling the truth).
You come to the town and find yourself lost, then
on reaching a crossroad.
You meet this set of identical twins,
By asking one question to either of the twins, which question can you ask to enable you know
which road is the right road to follow
(*NB knowing fully well that if you ask the lying
one he will lead you astray)

ANSWER: you ask him 'if I meyour twin brother and asked him the right road to follow, which one would he show me?
Then you simply follow the opposite road of any one he shows you
