[size=14pt]New clashes erupt in Nigeria's Kano[/size]

The blasts and gunshots were reportedly heard coming from an area near a police station in the city of Kano on Tuesday morning.

"I was awoken from sleep by explosions and gunshots coming from the mobile barracks and police station opposite," a resident reported.

"It's terrifying , It's too dangerous to go out, besides there is curfew," the resident added.

There are no reports of casualties yet. The Boko Haram group claimed responsibility for the Friday attacks that left at least 185 people dead.

The group said it carried out the attacks in reaction to the Nigerian authorities' refusal to release a number of Boko Haram members arrested in Kano.

A night-time curfew has been in place following the Friday attacks. Nigeria is Africa's most populous nation and largest oil producer.
