Our leaders unintelligent is a stark embarrassment to an average Nigerian. Why wait to be sacked when your competencies are grossly in doubt by the general public. Resignation is the only honourable thing to do in the face of profound loss of credibility on our leadership. Why glossed over the needful and wait for the axe?

Why not recruit internationally. The present police force lack the required intelligent to curb Boko Haram

The Justice Niki Tobi panel constituted in September 2001 by former Governor Joshua Dariye on the Jos crisis had recommended the retirement MD Abubakar from the Police force. He ws also with Biu in d airport bomb cover up during Abacha era. D blast that killed Dr Omoshola.

In a White Paper released in Jos, the panel suggested that AIG Abubakar should be dismissed if he refuses to retire.

The panel said: "Religious fanatics should not be posted to head state police commands. The commission recommends that for his ignoble role during the September 2001 crisis which resulted in the loss of lives, the former Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Alhaji M.D. Abubakar, be advised to retire from the Nigeria Police Force and in the event of his refusal to do so, he should be dismissed from the service."

Abubakar from Zamfara State who was indicted twice between 2004 and 2006 by a Jos crises Panel, is alleged to have sponsored some Islamist Militant Group when he was Commissioner of Police in Bauchi and Plateau States.

shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked If this is tenable then we are in for a rough ride. The whole system smacks of insensitivity and irresponsibility. A day of reckoning will soon come

Chill out guys. Do You really think the president would have been unaware of charges agaiinst Abubakar?

the fact is FG had obviously run out ideas on how to tackle the sect. This appointment is clearly meant to commence an informal dialogue with Boko Haram--apparently the only option left. What better to achieve that than appointing one of their own to the helm?

After 10 years, the US have not successfully curbed al-quaeda.
They are leaving iraq a failed mission.

Should we recruit from them?

I am finally convinced that GEJ is really not in charge, he is clearly acting out some script! With the heaps of allegation against this Abubakar guy, the president still went ahead to appoint him as acting IG? Give me a break mr president, there should still be some smart guy in that police force, albeit lower ranking, even though the system must have done some damage to them. Are we up here for some quota system or merit in making appointments? These Abubakar is only a diploma holder, he is as good as an illiterate, can this kind of IG rise up to the technological sophistication required to combat terrorism? Meeeen! we keep falling into deeper pit!, i don tire to type sef, whatever!

at least within the US their police force has not done a bad job.
Re: State House Press Release On The New Acting IGP MD Abubakar by Dede1(m): 8:34pm On Jan 25, 2012
This silly appointment of MD Abubakar as acting IGP of Nigeria because of his geopolitical block in Nigeria by GEJ is one of the reasons I had adamantly called for disintegration of Nigeria. Merits and quality of service or performance are no longer the yardsticks to determine promotion in Nigeria.

The aforementioned acting IGP had been recommended for dismissal from Nigerian police by a legally constituted body due to incompetence. It must be recalled that MD Abubakar, along with notorious Zakari Biu , had been allegedly implicated in the covering of brutal killing of Dr Omoshola by car bomb. The so-called Acting IGP, after all, could be the fellow who taught Boko Haram members the means of preparing and detonating car bomb.

Sometime I wonder what Reuben Abati is doing with all this mix-up. I thought he is a special adviser to Mr President? Then he should do his job in given the man a good advice. Haba! God have mercy for this country.

Re: State House Press Release On The New Acting IGP MD Abubakar by Nobody: 8:42pm On Jan 25, 2012
This committee won't amount to anything. Mr. President knows how to give 'hope-laden' speeches and set up 'progressive' style committees that would end up stalling for pay and not even do anything. Every little thing to this guy na to set up committe - confused buttnose
Re: State House Press Release On The New Acting IGP MD Abubakar by anataala: 8:43pm On Jan 25, 2012
some of you if opportune will be worst than Our President, is the right decision in the right direction, you people should know Nigeria does not belong to one tribe or religion and for some of you that are calling him Boko Haram and he is indicted should get loss, i believe most of you are not even of to 30% clean as per as integrity is concern. so go and change ur own attitute before complaining about some one.

Sorry, but this is totally silly. its like employing a known p.edophile to care for your children because he knows all other p.edophiles out there and therefore be able to ward them off.

Well, lets give Gej some credit, at least we all agree sacking Ringim was a good move dont we? Lets give him the benefit of doubt and assume he knows what he's doing. Who better to watch the fish than the Cat? Y'all vultures should chill out a lil bit, if bombs continue to go off then you can feed on your favoured carcasses!

I am so glad that NL is not a true representation of Naija. The level of ignorance and gross bigotted idiocy here is alarming. So many id.io.ts just running their mouths here. A president goes on an hostoric reform of the NPF, first of its kind in the history of Nigeria and you lot who are suffering from acute cynicism crawl out of your disgusting holes to once again try to take the shine away from the event. You lot are pathetic. This is the most sweeping reform that have ever been carried out in the police force. Do you know what it is to retire the whole DIGs. You guys have absolutely no clue. Ignorant morons!
Re: State House Press Release On The New Acting IGP MD Abubakar by doofanc: 9:13pm On Jan 25, 2012
Yes silly to someone in country where everything is done properly, not like our case. Appointin a Christian at this time would have been the worst possible move, that is why all DIGs had to retired to make way for Abubakar.

Did he sack the same Zakari biu whom he rienstated from retirement? The federal character logic of appointing this new IGP amidst all these known reports of indictment against him is perturbing. Its either a tactical move by the  president in the  interim sequel to shopping for a better alternative or that he is adopting the anxiom which says that it takes a thief to catch a thief. Any reason short of the above credits this appointment as another gaffe by GEJ !!!

dont be suprised in the coming days if you see a reduction of boko haram activities.IGP MD Abubakar have started making calls to his boys to calm down and send their account numbers for crediting. But remember no amount of blood spilt appeases the gods.its only for a while before they return with more fury demanding for all men in nigeria to wear beard to bomb comes raining down grin
Re: State House Press Release On The New Acting IGP MD Abubakar by terrykarl(m): 9:54pm On Jan 25, 2012
it is not rocket science to know and appreciate the problems of our police force, why do they perform excellently well when on international assignments? -the environment is different.but the problem can be summarised thus,
they are simply ill trained, ill equipped and ill motivated,
fix these three ills and you will get a better police force
