Is 70years retirement age your major pain? Mine is that these guys even at 50 are no longer effective thus, why do they have to wait till they are 70

let me use dis opportunity to tell Nigerian youth to be very careful about these our selfish elder professors. It is quite understandable that FG, SG and LG have not done enough to fund our schools from Primary to tertiary, however, the professors are just looking for the selfish demand. the only demand of ASUU are increase in retirement age as well as increase in salary.

FG has done something at first to establish ETF for the funding of our school through private sector contributions.
Many of our tertiary institutions have not accessd this fund due to in-fighting about who bring the contractor.
There are billions of naira lying idle at ETF unaccessd.
FG has as well ammended ETF law to TETFUND to take care of tertiary institutions only.

Some of the professor got their education free even with scholarship abroad but they subject our youth to unnecessary sufering by all forms of extortion etc.
Professors do compare their salary with that of politician. these professors has equal opprotunity to become politician and not sufer our youth because of that.
Professors will retire but will never leave the university, continue to occupy their staff quaters in expense of younger employee.
At age 65, most of our professors cannot talk with right sense let alone at age 70. why all dis selfishness? NIGERIAN YOUTH, WAKE UP

We thank God that the ASUU strike has finally being called off, but despite this action carried out by the academic union, Nigerians still have alot of questions lying down inside of them. The might want to ask if this strike will be the end of academic strikes in the future? Well, ASUU has not disclosed it decision on this or if all the demands they have being fighting for has been granted by the FG, but we do know one thing; the strike has been suspended. It will be too early to start forgeting the occurence of another strike by the academic union in the future. All we pray is that, the FG and ASUU should solve what ever differences they may have without going on another strike action. This strike, judging from the just called off strike clearly indicate the extend of damage such a thing will do to our educational system if alowed to continue in this manner. We all most understand that strike is not a good thing for a nation and it should be a last resolt for any dispute or disagreement resolution.
Take care all. From NigeriaScholar- Bringing Out The Scholar In You.

It was a thing of joy when i saw it on Channels and on http://www.naijareport.com.ng/ASUU-latest-news-ASUU-call-2013-strike/

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its over five months old strike.

ASUU Chairman, University of Lagos Chapter, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka told Channels Television that the union decided to suspend the strike after a marathon meeting held in Minna, Niger State capital on Monday.

In attendance at the meeting, which ran till late in the evening, were all the ASUU branch chairmen and secretaries, the national executive members of the body, coordinators and past leaders, including 56 members from 52 universities.

Dr. Ogbinaka said that, in line with procedures, the different chapters of ASUU would hold congress meetings on Wednesday to inform members and managements of the institutions of the latest development.

“We expect the students to resume and expect their members to go back to class immediately after the congress meeting and we expect the government to keep to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU),” Dr. Ogninaka stated.

He said that the union and the government would hold meetings in 2014 to look at gray areas that may arise and come to a common ground.

FINALLY OOOOO
