These things come work,  i believe in them,  the white men dreamt of their current countries before it became what it's today.

That is very true, but u forgetting that white man is not as selfish, greedy and of a bastard like the leaders that we have.

If it is the desire of Nigerians to erect gigantic and imposing concrete structures in our metro cities to give the impression of social development, then a couple of things need first to precede the realization of the desire. Here they are:

1. Invade another resourceful country and take over their financial market and influence their cultural ideology using cinema arts and music to inject propaganda.

2. Influence their political leadership, including sponsorship for candidates favoring Naira above their own local currency.

3. Use trade tarriffs to discourage and kill their agricultural output. but subsidize Nigerian farmers and sign trade agreements giving Nigeria exclusive or higher share of total food imports into that country.

4. Infiltrate their security and make it possible for crime to flourish but decry their leaders for violating human rights when criminals are punished.  Also, re-orient the citizens view of their country. . to the extent that they see Nigeria and Nigerians as their only saviour against their own leaders.

My brothers and sisters, this is how the Western world operated to get what they have and become who they are today.  If you like what you see in their country. . then instead of just copying their steel and concrete structures, lets practice their atrocities as well. . .on people of other countries that is!

ezeagu:

The white man once dreamt of their country, so did the black man. One day the white man got the country of his dreams then came to Africa and carved out new countries for the black man.  grin One Nigeria.

Yes, the white men came and reshaped what is now Nigeria but that does not stop each state and her citizens from building the state of their dreams, most states in Nigeria are occupied by natives of the states, so if they want a state of their own, they should dream and make their dreams a reality by doing what i stated in my previous post.

Is that the only way development can come to Nigeria?

It seems almost everyone is fascinated by towering skyscrapers and winding causeways as a sign of development. Those structures cost a fortune per square inch. . . the money to build and maintain it must come from some yet-to-be allocated fund. Without increasing tax levy, without pinching on already scarce domestic funds. . . we need to go find some sucker somewhere in foreign land that will pay for it. Its called foreign land exploitation.

Aren't tall buildings and skyscrapers indicative of some kind of development? If they are beautiful and well maintained, it must mean that the thus sheltered businesses are flourishing, employees (the people) are thus paid and provided some amenities, the maintainers are gainfully employed. Towering heights indicate tycoon presence, with expansions in other areas of the country/neighboring countries, along with people-focused benefits.

On the subject of maintenance - well, better we try than not try at all in the first place.

It doesn't have to be 100% doom and gloom.

On the subject of dreams and reality, any one a fan of Joel Barker?
