Iran Exports 7,775mw/h Electricity in 11 Months

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Energy Ministry announced that the country has exported 7,775mw/h electricity in the last 11 months, which shows a 28% growth compared with the same period last year.

The ministry announced on Monday that it has exported 7,775 megawatt-hours of electricity since the beginning of the current Persian Calendar Year (started March 21, 2011).

The figure shows a 27.86 percent increase compared to the similar period last year, which stood at 6,065 megawatt-hours.

With the implementation of subsidy reforms law, not only domestic electricity consumption has reduced but also annual growth in electricity demand has been checked, thus paving the way for further export of electricity to the neighboring countries.

Iran has power swap deals with Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Afghanistan and the autonomous region of Nakhichevan.

Well done, Iran.

I respect your go-getter spirit, unlike the lazy, pathetic nature of the Nigerian gov't.

Better than asking oil companies to supply you with electricity.

Iran will boost electricity exports to Iraq by 300 megawatts, through which 50 megawatts will be exported to Syria and Lebanon, IRNA news agency reported.

Iranian deputy energy minister Mohammad Behzad inked an agreement in Tehran on Saturday with deputy energy ministers of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon to increase electricity exports to Iraq by 300 megawatts to reach 1,300 megawatts and transfer at least 50 megawatts via Iraq to Syria and Lebanon.

Behzad said earlier that Iran’s power exports are expected to reach a mark of $1billion in the current Iranian year which ends on March 19.

Iran’s electricity network is connected into the power grids of seven neighboring countries, including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
