US lauds Alison-Madueke’s leadership of oil industry

• Stakeholders’ retreat on refineries begins

The United States Government has expressed confidence in the Nigeria oil and gas industry under the stewardship of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The minister had in the last two months established specialised task forces/committees in the petroleum industry with the mandate to fast track ongoing oil sector reforms and providing value addition in Federal Government’s drive to ensure that Nigeria reaps bountifully from the proceeds of God-given hydrocarbon resources.

Speaking at the end of a breakfast session with the Minister at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, the US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ambassador Wendy Sherman, described Alison-Madueke as a visionary leader, stating that his country will continue its partnership with Nigeria in the oil sector as well as other areas of common interests.

According to a statement by the NNPC spokesman, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, Sherman said: "We had an excellent meeting with the Minister. She is a visionary, who is looking ahead to a sector that will bring great benefit to the people of Nigeria and I know she is working very closely with the Nigerian President to ensure very bright future for all Nigerians."

The US under secretary was accompanied by the Special Envoy for International Energy Affairs, Carlos Pascual and the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Terence Mc Culley, and they pledged continuation of the US/Nigeria bilateral trade relationship.

1) Wt several committees about reform and no result to show anything?
2) NNPC is yet to be on top of the Oil and Gas Operations.
3) DPR struggling to get IOCs to comply wt all the regulations on paper in Naija?
4) The IOCs calling the shorts (doing whatever they like) in the operations and cost aspects?
5) Oil and Gas Contractual process taking 3yrs?
6) All the politiking in the processes?
etc.
They will support anything that does not restrict the flow of Crude to them.

It is a cardinal sin to libel anybody just because there is a mouth on your face. If you are asked to back up your words you will begin staggering, stumbling and stammering. angry

The woman is doing very well indeed. If it is the subsidy matter that is making Nigerians tell foolish lies, then let them continue; it is no surprise that the country is where it is when rumours are spread as fact by educated people.

Exactly! I don't understand what is wrong with people that they need to seem to have cred by jumping on any populist bandwagon they learn about; even if it means them spitting on themselves.

I posted a very telling article and some pics (of a mansion with goldplated walls) that depict the true state of Nigeria's oil industry and how a handful of the core-Northern elite not only earn twice as much as the entire Niger Delta does from oil money, they also own 80% of the indegenous oil industry. It was done through "gifts" from generals and oil ministers. They can muster more liquid cash than the entire country without lifting a finger.
Anybody who does not expect a brutal fightback from that clan really has to do a sharp rethink. They are fighting hard and they are fighting dirty. They do not want NNPC privatised, neither do they want the KPMG audit report to ever see light of day.

Sadly, our unquestioning know it all's would only regurgitate rumours like clorckwork in an or'gy to defeat themselves and expend energy to feed the chaos that is their enemies sustenance. Talk about selling ones future, even worse, selling ones kids futures; all for the price of an empty word or two and the "street cred" of being seen as a two minute rebel.

This is the most disappointing statement I have come across in recent time, how can one support a woman that has wreck the Nigeria Oil Industry since taking over as PM exporting crude with unregistered and unrecognized companies with all the money going into her bank accounts.
We are still trying to get over the aches that came with the exposed secret of the subsidy money and someone is telling us that she should be commended.

If the woman was stashing money overseas, the US would have been the first to know. I do understand some people's disappointment in this delightful news, they would rather push false stories about Madueke's son, her underwears, her hadbag, and of course an imaginary house she bought with an equivalent of her ministry's annual budget.
In reality, there may not be many obvious improvements in our oil industry so far, but she's the only one in more than 30 years who seems determined to clean up the rot in the mininstry. It wouldn't be easy embarassed
