KADUNA — Arewa Youths Forum,AYF, yesterday, demanded an apology from all their leaders who have ruled the country at one time or the other for neglecting the region while they were in power.

This was the outcome of an emergency meeting in Kaduna, which was attended by Muslim and Christian youths as well as those in the diaspora.

A statement signed by its Chairman, Gambo Gajonju, said: “The meeting extensively discussed the various circumstances the North has found itself, and recent much noise about positions of past Nigerian leaders from the North, i.e. Generals Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalam Abubakar, Atiku Abubakar, and several others regarding the avoidable quagmire our region is shamelessly trapped into.

“We are at the bottom of every index ranging from health, education, social amenities, and several other sectors. Worst of our woes is the insecurity ravaging the North. It is against this background that we made the following position.

“That all Northern leaders who held several positions, i.e. Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar, and others who have got golden opportunities of turning our region for good but did not should know and accept much of the blame.

“Northerners and the world need explanation as to what led the North to the rot it is today. It was not magic but man-made as a result of deliberate manipulation of religion, self-enrichment and pervasive corruption our leaders adopted to the detriment of the larger peoples of the North.

“Finally, all past and present leaders of Northern extraction should as a matter of morality and sincerity apologise to the North first. Because we got to the mess we are in due to their insensitivity, and approach to governance, which was contrary to the principles of our leader, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

According to the statement, “What the North, Nigeria at large need is not noise or elite gathering, and eating from woes of the region. What we need is practicable good governance on the basis of unity, justice, equity, oneness and togetherness”.

It is rather unfortunate that the North is very much backward considering the avalanche of rich men over there in the north it is very much painful at this point, however it is not too late for the past leaders to apologise sincerely so dat they can forge ahead.

They are still very blood thirsty and unfortunately for them they don't have any christian to suck from.
Now they would have no choice than to turn to their leaders.
This is just the beginning.

The northern youths should wake up to the reality of the curent economic situation of the country, let them educate their people on how to raise a manageble family other than the curent practice of marying 4 wives and bearing as many children without any good plan for their future which have contributed to the higher illitracy level and under development in the north. Am not absolving the past leaders of blame but what they did is against the whole country and not only the north. They should refund the money they stole and apologise to the entire country.

Northern Youths, na apology una wan chop? You people better grab their balls and squeeze real hard for them to settle you. It won't be a bad idea if they are escorted to the world beyond.

Those crooks don fool and cheat you people for too long.

Wake up from your slumber, Northern Youths.
Re: Youths Ask IBB, Abdulsalam, Atiku, Others To Apologise by nku5: 1:13pm On Mar 19, 2012
The average northerner is an upright, siimple and honourable felllow. Their problem has always been their accursed leadership. Like someone said, the niigerian revolution can only stand a chance if it starts in the north. The youths are waking up (I hope)
Re: Youths Ask IBB, Abdulsalam, Atiku, Others To Apologise by lonamy: 2:04pm On Mar 19, 2012
Northern Youths(NY), if you are very serious, demanding appology will never solve your problems, it will rather complicate issues.

You know the houses of theses your disgruntled men. Take laws into your hands and execute justice.
If you go to court you will never get justice because they are the ones manipulating judgment there.

The worst thing is that, these leaders are on the verge of destroying the North. They are the ones financing Boko Haram who are killing the Northern Youths(NY).
It is time for the NY to wake up from their slumber. The Northern Leaders(NL) have been enjoyning their loots because, they know that the majority of the Norther people are not educated, they have no intellectual understanding to fight them. But they failed to know that Information Technology has changed the way we live and the NYs are catching up gradually.

Now that you guys are educated enough to access Internet, use google, Nairaland and other social forums, you can now realise what the southern guys have been agitating for all these while. Northern Leaders are pure thieves, they don't worth living any more.

THE ONLY WAY NORTH CAN MOVE FORWARD IS THAT ALL THESE LEADERS ARE EXECUTED. If they are still living, it is not sure the NYs can make head way in life or enjoy the necessary ammenities that can make them a living human being. They have used the opportunity of lack of western education and religion sentiments to blind fold you.

You had better wake up and engage yourselves in proper revolution.

Wow!
Looks like the Northern youths just sprouted a fresh mindset overnight.
This could be the real awakening! Signs of more things to come?
Good one, though the apology demand is just too ridiculous!
What will apology do? Will it take away the the 4B's (bombs, bullets, and the begging bowls)?

Those leaders looted, are still looting, and are sitting on humongous pile of loot
Why not demand a return of the loot?
Why not demand they build certain infrastructure to atone for the evils done?
Why not demand for building proper class rooms for the millions of Almajiri's sitting under the sun?
Why not the Boko Harams hound them instead of innocent muslims/Christians?
The Governors are demanding more oil revenue to loot, what are they doing with the ones they got?
Re: Youths Ask IBB, Abdulsalam, Atiku, Others To Apologise by Aringarosa(m): 3:14pm On Mar 19, 2012
This is a wake up call; leadership has been in the North most of the time, even under the military, but sadly, there is little or no (economic) impact on the region. Worse still, the region is retrogressively becoming uninhabitable because of increasing poverty and restiveness. These did not just begin, it has been progressively spreading unabated... But the youths are now awakening - if we can hold our leaders accountable instead of settling for tips and peanuts (evil manipulations). Kudos to Arewa Youth; I salute the courage to speak out!
Re: Youths Ask IBB, Abdulsalam, Atiku, Others To Apologise by DonXavi(m): 3:40pm On Mar 19, 2012
This is good news. At least they're now speaking out frankly. This is where their region's problem emanated from. Don't mind these other ones that are being used (BH). Instead of confronting the root cause of their problem they go arround detonating explosives killing some innocent souls. The likes of IBB, Atiku, Ciroma and other are not even suppose to walk the streets free let alone coming to the political platform in the name of representing the north or speaking on their behalf. Egotistic bunch.

@NLers

HALLELUYA SOMEBODY! Finally the wool has dropped from their eyes. Now the hen has come home to roost instead of blaming other regions for ur woes, look inwards. Forget about the friggin apology it wont do ur BASTARDIZED AND ILL-DEVELOPED NORTH any good and guess what, the apology will never come. Instead think of ways of making sure these GOONS (IBB and CO) dont smell power or become kingmakers anymore and try rising up from IGNORANCE.
EVERY SINGLE DAY, WE SEE REASONS WHY BIAFRA WANTED BREAKING OUT OF NIGERIA!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!
