The fulanis rule over the hausas, all emirs or sultans in the north are of fulani stock and has being so for centuries and since the hausas not only accepted fulani religion (islam ala uthman dan fodio) but also the fulanis as their lords and have intergrated with them, then i assume it is okay to refer to them as hausa/fulani. The hausas take great pride in being refered to that way.A classical "Talk about the slave assuming the identity of the master".

Fact: Majority of Hausa people were already Muslim before Usman Dan Fodio's acquisition of Hausaland.
False: Hausa did not assume the identity of the Fulani, if they did how come Hausa people do not speak Fulfulde?
Fact: Hausa people were already Muslims in the 1300s before Fulani people arrived in Nigeria.
