There is no other way to put it. You directly linked the Serie A slow pace to the 2006 scandal. That's very wrong and you know it. From time immemorial we know Serie A as a highly tactical and slow paced league. Even before 2006.

I might not have closely followed the Italian league pre 2006 but I am pretty sure many teams took to slow and defensive approach post 2006.

I can confidently point to the scandal of 2006 as a determinant because it was after the calciopoli that 30 players who had played in the 2006 World Cup, left the Italian league for other leagues. That mass exodus of talent went largely unreplaced, leaving Italian teams scrambling to put together teams that could compete both domestically and in Europe. Many took to defensive approach and that is a fact.

I doubt Carlo's Milan were slow paced in the 2000s, they were more of an counter-attacking side. I doubt Juve were slow paced and defensive when Lippi and Capello were in charge. So?

You're always quick to conclude. Go through my post again, I said it's a big If whether Belotti would thrive in another league, given that he might be benefitting from the slow paced Serie A.

That If could have still applied to Toni if we were making an argument on him prior to his switch to Bayern.

If Dybala playing for Juve is the reason why he can succeed outside Italy, DId Zlatan play for either Juve, Roma or Napoli? Didn't he succeed outside Italy?

Zlatan played for Juve when they were calling the shots in Italy and Inter post-Calciopoli era when they ruthlessly owned the Serie A.

So yes, the education he received at the two big clubs definitely helped shape his career and that is the point I am making with Dybala.

Dybala is getting a very good football education at Juventus, his chances of suceeding elsewhere is being enhanced. Belotti is doing good at Torino, but how strong is the education? Are Torino renowned for producing great strikers? The last time their product won the golden boot in Italy, he was declared missing in Germany the next season. So just like Immobile, Belotti's run could be a one- season wonder, who knows. We've seen that with players who came through the ranks of relatively 'small teams' hence I asserted, getting such players is a risk.

If you were to be an employer, who would you trust with an appoinment, a first class student (Bellotti) of Unilag (Torino) or a first class student (Dybala) of Harvard (Juventus)?
