Dear NLers, what is the ranking system of the Armed Forces and what insignia does each rank have? Just interested and its good to know. Mods please move this if its in the wrong place.
Nigeria Police Force
Constable - no insignia
Corporal - two red "V"'s
Sergeant - three red "V"'s
From Inspector up, you wear the navy blue and yellow talon (rope)
Inspector - silver lines on the top of the shoulder
ASP to CSP have a different insignia on their berets (difficult to describe)
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) - one diamond/star on the top of the shoulder for unconfirmed, two for confirmed.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) - three diamonds/stars
Superintendent of Police (SP) - Coat of arms on the top of the shoulder
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) - Coat of arms and one diamond/star
ACP to CP have a different insignia on their berets (difficult to describe)
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) - round reef insignia on top of shoulder
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) - same as above + diamond/star
Commissioner of Police (CP) - round reef insignia + coat of arms on top of shoulder
AIG and DIG have a different insignia on their berets (difficult to describe)
Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) - coat of arms + inspector "line" + round reef insignia
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) - coat of arms + diamond/Star + round reef insignia
IG wears beret with unique insignia
Inspector General of Police (IG) - coat of arms + two diamonds/star + round reef insignia
Customs, prisons and other paramilitary (outside of the armed forces) follow the same system, with slight variation.
