Egocentric Governor T.a Orji by OLUABIA: 1:41pm On May 04, 2012
AS I WAS SAYING …..Our state Abia is in the limelight oftentimes because of the comedy of errors in our governance. While others states are beeming with smiles, we are at AKIMBO bemoaning ourselves.I have already dubbed it PATCH-PATCH. Presently there is this kind of LET MY PEOPLE GO syndrome which we say in Igbo – KA ONAGA AGA. I must warn that people are been informed, mobilized and galvanized to hold government accountable. Governor T.A ORJI and all his team with all sense of respect and humility MUST adhere to the constitution by divulging themselves from their oft charade of running Abia as if it is their personal business. However, my concern presently is GOVERNOR T.A’s CAP. ..THE EGOCENTRIC CAP .It is dehumanizing and demeaning to hear what goes on Abia state government owned RADIO and TV stations. They tell us THE MAN THE CAP FITS IS T.A ORJI, OCHENDO, THE LIBERATOR and probably CALIBRATOR OF ABIA. And I ask myself what manner of media blitz or image making these guys are doing for him. So disgusting and you realize that the governor must have given all the newly appointed officers MATCHING ORDERS to mobilize their kits and kin to boost T.A’s image. In fact, the more they try to make him acceptable, the more they somersault. The stations are awash with families, village heads, market associations and all kinds of groups THANKING THE god OF ABIA STATE FOR HIS MAGNANIMITY IN CHOOSING THEIR OWN. So nauseating that an appointed commissioner on his behalf and family paid for a spot…and you ask, for what? EGOCENTRIC T.A ORJI. I hear from reputable source that some of the announcements on line for broadcast bear names of dead parents who from their graves have sent THANK YOU to the governor. This is shameful. That’s the charade going on in Abia. No wonder the state owned Radio and TV stations are reeling under financial crunch as advertising agencies treat them as pariah even as government’s subvention is not forthcoming. The lesser willing tool, Radio Nigeria Pacesetter station, courtesy their general manager STONE ( OKWITE) is feeding fat from advertisers. We know T.A will one day vacate his present office but before that is realized, let his doctrinal vestiges be flushed out in the state. A thousand years is like a day before God but we mortals fail to realize this. In many disciplined and serious minded societies and state administration, such “fall over heels” to congratulate are usually publicly discouraged by leaders but contrary is the case in Abia. The sing song here is “CARRY GO, THE LIBERATOR, WE ARE SOLIDLY BEHIND YOU”. And I ask, solidly behind what – backwardness in developmental strides when other states are enjoying fast-paced project implementation. The conclusion here is that these flippant AGIP (ANY GOVERNMENT IN POWER) group who are recurring decimals should not be taken serious. THERE MUST BE THIS AWAKENING IN ABIA NOT TO SWALLOW ANY KIND OF PILL PRESCRIBED BY LEADERS LIKE THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT. Their pills are deceitful, sycophantic and dangerous and their leader prefers to RULE than LEAD. He is comfortable working with APPOINTED and not ELECTED officers at the third TIER of government and all seem to be clapping hand to an IMPEACHABLE offence. Having therefore the WHIMS AND CAPRICE to hire and fire, whosoever then occupies that seat does his bidding – AGBATA EKEE. The government of T.A should tell the whole world how he has spent local government funds since assumption of office because it is believed he docks a large chunk of the money. Abians desire ACCOUNTABILITY. We should realize the level of HAVOC this policy has caused the state in the hands of this style of governance. All we hear in Abia is that “ ALL TRANSITION COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS HAVE BEEN DISSOLVED, RESOLVED, SACKED and it goes on times without number. Is this LEADERSHIP or RULERSHIP? If all the so-called BIG NAMES as released by EMINDU have decided to seal their lips because of Party affinity, then they also must be held responsible for this retrogression in Abia. We should note that this is a democratic dispensation oiled by accountability and transparency and anything short of that is unacceptable. We want a new Abia and that CHANGE is imminent in this God’s Own State, devoid of deceit, hypocrisy, favoritism and wickedness. Time has come for the youths of Abia to begin to play vanguard roles when it has become obvious that Adults have sold their conscience on a platter of few naira notes. I hope the ABIA AWAKENING I SAW ON FACEBOOK will be real and not another agent of government to blow T.A ORJI’S TRUMPET…PARARARARA. It is on record that this man T.A since he won his LANDSLIDE and VOLCANIC ERUPTED victory, he has not made any meaningful efforts to as a matter of brotherliness, courtesy and humility met with his so-called opposition. Bayelsa governor did it, and his master President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan toed the humble line by inviting his rival in the 2011 elections from no other party than ACN in the person of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu whom he believes has what it takes to offer to his fatherland but the EGOCENTRIC T. A keep blind eyes to such style of statecraft. And one may ask, where does he learn from? Then the conclusion is that from KIRIKIRI to GOVERNMENT HOUSE is not a wonderful experience as exemplified in Abia. It has worked well in other lands like South Africa but the reason why the person got there is another thing. Our governor does not interact with others who are far ahead of him nor appreciate what they are doing and doing right. I recall few years ago when Governor of Edo state Adams Oshiomole was guest to Rivers state governor Chibike Amaechi. It was Amaechi’s anniversary and Oshiomole appreciated what he saw there and said that there was nothing wrong for him to replicate any good thing he saw from Amaechi to improve the lives of his people. What manner of HUMILITY. Rather T.A will release his army of ALSATIAN MEDIA DOGS to tear apart fellow IGBO state Governors who are far better, appreciated and acknowledged by all. We have sworn to defend Abia and business as usual by T. A is a thing Of the past…CHIKENA!

AS I WAS SAYING… A recent News Talk on State owned radio of Governor T.A ORJI in Abia state, dealt on Buses donated by the governor to convey students to school. The writer drew an analogy that never came close to the issue of free bus services, rather likened it to women whom he categorically labeled UNGRATEFUL FOLKS. As I listened through, all he wanted us to admit is either the inability of school headmasters and Principals of schools and parents in Abia to line up the streets of Umuahia and Aba and sing songs of the god of Abia state on daily basis to show appreciation for his MAGNANIMITY.The same Trauma they exhibited when they lined these innocent young ones on the streets of Aba because he was coming to commission Abia Poly foot bridge the students have refused to use.The little Lads, helpless and smitten by the smoking sun, most of them got dehydrated. The same scenario was the picture this writer wanted us to adopt.I wept sore that very morning, in agony to the pitiable situation Abians find themselves. Governor T.A expects all and sundry in Abia to learn the THEME SONG of his government..ALL HAIL GOVERNOR T.A .Come to think of it, is it a begging issue for Abia citizens to enjoy amenities from their resources? Has it come to the level that Abia resources has now been converted to T.A's personal property that all must run to him before getting their own share? Abia children deserve better Buses, fully air-conditioned than the RICKETY ones we find on the road. The N1million claim on services annually for the Buses is a peanut compared to the level of embezzlement in government. Let the governor go beyond the existing Smokey Buses and procure better ones for our children without inflating the costs (kick-back CHIKENA !

Raising Abia from bended knees
THERE comes a time in the history of a people when God blesses them with a leader with a particular mandate. For the people of Abia, aptly called God’s Own State, there is every indication that the supplication of the people unto their Maker for a divine lifting of afflicted yoke caused by long period of political and economic slavery has attracted divine intervention.

The result today is a true reflection of the Biblical saying that when the righteous are on the throne, the people rejoice. For Governor Theodore Orji, under whose administration the state has seen the total paradigm shift in both governance and content of service delivery, the abundance of God’s mercy upon him and the mandate cannot be over-emphasised.

From a fluttering beginning due to known consequence of deceitful political alliance akin to the kind of marriage between the cow and the butcher, governance and service delivery in a democratic setting had a huge question mark. However, with determination and rare courage though not without pockets of adulterated opposition, the Governor was able to rescue the state from the chambers of dark forces. Then came his vow and promise to the people of the state to hold him accountable for all actions and inaction(s) of his administration. With just a year into his second term of office, Governor Orji has left no one in doubt that indeed some dark forces were the cogs on the wheels of the progress of the state.

Within the period under review, the proportion of infrastructural development in the state has witnessed a high commensurate yield which has also left few opposing scoundrels in the state with no other option than to merely haul sand to give the impression that it is fulfilling all righteousness. From the massive infrastructures being put up in the state capital city Umuahia, to the courageous tackling of the infrastructural challenges in Aba the commercial heart beat of the state and the entire East, the present administration has left no one in doubt of its mission.

Just recently, Governor Orji etched his regime’s name in gold when it took care of a perennial problem that had defied solution to previous administrations in the state in the last 20 years. The popular Ukwu-Mango leading into Ariaria which had before now turned into a forest due to its impregnable nature, has today become a beautiful thorough fare for commuters. Hate or like him, the impact of the actualised dream will for a very long time remain evergreen in the minds of the residents of the city. The glory, of course, knows its destination. The residents of Aba have never had it so good.

Under the same period, the Governor had rehabilitated the Ama-Ogbenna, Okigwe road, the Osusu- Omuma Road, which roads were in the year 2000 “politically” commissioned by the then Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. From Osusu, the story moved to Danfodio by East, to Our Lady of Lourdes, and the Old Express by Samek. The government in response to the welfare of students and staff of the Abia State Polytechnic Aba, constructed an over-head bridge to reduce the rate of vehicular accidents in front of the campus.

Coming to the state capital, the story has truly changed. People of Amaeke where burials are held only during dry seasons have heaved a sigh of great relief. The non-existing Amaeke road that could better pass as a slave-trade route has been fully rehabilitated and commissioned. It is even an unbelievable story for people of Ukome and Mbom where Nwa-bekee (local reference to development) has eventually visited. For the years that they had existed, Mbom has never seen a tarred road since creation. Same story is now told in Emede who for many decades have survived through “jump and pass” infrastructural development. Still counting, it is positive turn-around for the World-Bank-Agbama Road, Umuafai-Lodu-Ahiaeke road, Okwuta-Isieke, Okwoyi-Iyienyi as well as the Nkata-Alike Umukabia-Ohuhu road.

In the Southern Senatorial Zone, the century-old adage that there is no short route to Aro (an acronym for Arochukwu) is no longer obtainable. Under Ochendo, the long stretch Arochukwu road from Ndi-Uduma Awoke in OhafiA Local Government is now being constructed.

This is in addition to the Amaekpu-Okagwe road in same Ohafia. It is equally a historic account from Ndi Okorie Abam down to Ndi- Itu. One striking feature in Abia is that the road constructions are carried out by contractors who upon the award of the jobs get instant mobilisation. This is a sharp contrast from the reigning college manual labour roads in some neighbouring states.

As we read this, the state government is very responsive of the need to ensure that all arms of government are functioning optimally, hence the need for human and capacity building. The state workforce is patiently waiting for the completion and commissioning of the State Secretariat with a complete over-haul of the old one. This is just as the two cities of Aba and Umuahia are seeing the eloquent presence of the judiciary made manifest with the dual construction of two gigantic High Court complexes.

The health sector record is a positive statement already made, hence it would be trite to begin fresh enumeration.

It is nothing to the residents of the State that despite all the efforts of the State government, the government is still under the attack and bad press of a few. It is also quite amusing that some whiff of criticism comes from some ignorant sections outside the state. This is essentially from those who felt they should join the fray because there is a bandwagon rush.

AS I WAS SAYING...Abians, have you observed that for the past month that T.A ORJI reshuffled his cabinet, the state Radio station BCA, awash with congratulates on the man the cap fits and the demi god of Abia have caused the station to join Radio Nigeria late for the network news. Nobody will observe this unbecoming of a denial on Abia citizens. The news is usually joined at the middle of the bulletin that you cannot make proper assessment of stories. Its all T.A ORJI's nconcern. HABA.

AS I WAS SAYING... I am in wonder how Abia government aides to the governor courtesy CHIKAMNAYO prefer to liken T.A ORJI to NELSON MANDELA of south Africa, TUFIAKWA.What has the governor done in Abia to bring him to such comparative level. T.A ORJI is like IDI AMIN of Uganda, that is what he will be remembered for. A man that denied Abians free and fair elction, A man that denied political opponents free access to stadium and other avenues for electioneering campaigns and many atrocious deed. There is no atom of kindheartedness in T.A who sacked fellow Igbo workers from his state and left them penury including men and women who served the government up to 35 years. what is the human face of T.A's RULE IN ABIA.Is this your MANDELA OF ABIA?Certainly, not the mandela of south Africa. You have every right to suggest names but not the one the whole world associate with struggle for humanity. You can give him any number of awards , no problems. He is liberating against forces fighting the overstuffing of his pocket..CHIKENA!
