Against the backdrop of recent threats by the Boko Haram sect to extend its bombing activities to the Southwest, the National President of the Odua Peoples Congress, Otunba Gani Adams, has advised the sect members not to throw the nation into another civil war.
He urged the group to embrace peace in the interest of the country.
Adams, who spoke to reporters at a ceremony organised to celebrate his 42nd birthday, said he did not believe Boko Haram could attack Yoruba people in the southwest, saying it was impossible for the sect members to carry out attacks on the region.
He said no Yoruba person would habour criminals to massacre innocent people.
“We believe in secularity of Nigeria in the southwest. We have Christians and Muslims and people that believe in traditional religions in Yoruba land. No group disturbs the other and definitely, I don’t see a situation where we will have a religious violence in the southwest. It will take an external aggression from groups like Boko Haram to come and cause havoc in the Yoruba land.
“We don’t have any issue with them and I don’t see any reason why they will come and plant bombs in Yoruba land. If they do so, that will trigger a lot of crises in Nigeria because there will be a reprisal to that,” the OPC leader cautioned.
He urged the government to protect the lives and property of Nigerians and ensure justice in the handling of the problem.

Really it wont be in the Northern Nigeria elite interest to attack a place like Lagos....it will surely cascade into huge violence that will sweep many of their investments that abounds in the South-West away.

So the BH should slow down on the cheap weeds that is getting them high to issued such threat.
