The presidency,as currently constituted seemed overwhelmed by Nigeria's meriad of problems.when president Jonathan campaigned for the presidency in 2011 he represented unfulfilled promises by our past leaders.with great expectation and outstanding enthusiasm Nigerian youth trooped out en masse to solidarize with what appeared to be the transformation train and change in political paradigm of the old order of failed promises, abandoned project, corruption, bribery, leadership failure/ineptitude.But while we all gathered to rejoice and celebrate the triumph of Nigeria over the smothering challenges of her past.we heard the voice of one screaming for everybody to make a sacrifice amidst the tumultous cacophony of voice singing victory songs and requesting that for immidiate relief from hardships of the time.
'Sacrifice',repeated the lone voice.
'What other sacrifice do you need other than that which we offered already, registering to obtain a voters card with which we voted you, coming out to vote you, protecting our votes untill results were announce and coming out here to celebrate;came discerning voice rejecting further sacrifices for now.But the lone voice shouted:
'Subsidy'.
'Is that the name of the new sacrifice?'they asked
'Yes',he responded.
'What is it all about?'they furthered.
'Fuel subsidy removal will solve our problem', says Jonathan.
'No not again'.the people shouted in protest.soon the bad news spread across the jubilating crowd.Suddenly,it was as though demons of anachy entered the crowd now turned violent.
Jonathan denied saying anything, calling it smear campaign of his political opponent.soon Nigerians dispersed to ruminate and forge a common front to fight the fledgling monster. While Nigerians were still contemplating on what to do,Jonathan announced on a national television the removal petroleum susidy.Nigerians took to the street, shut down the nation in protest. He imported hundreds of buses to make them cool temper.Nigerians said okey, that's better.Afterall Obasanjo imported tricycle.Obviously there is government policy paradigm since those buses have in-built cooling systems and semi music studio. They can relax while the presidency relish the dividends of subsidy removal.Who cares who have been milking the nation in the name of subsidy.Afterall they are presidency inner caucus and their friends. You can call them the 'Sacred Animals' that deserves to be pampered no matter what havoc they reak on the peoples' cash crops on the communal farm. They don't deserve to be bothered afterall they are sacred before the law or so it appears.
The Nigerians' anger hadn't been properly soothed when the presidency started talking yet another sacrifice called electricity tarrif increase.A lot of Nigerians are searching in their dictionaries the meaning of 'Tarrif' when Jonathan announced the date the continuous sacrifice will take off. They come in big grammer to take the shine off Nigerians.
The presidency doesn't seem to bother about the dommino effect of these incessant sacrifices on Nigerians' economy. So in one fiscal year Nigerians are exhausted by Jonathan's incessant pressure on Nigerians. Thus the crash or collapse of the capital market. If Jonathan cannot stabilize electricity supply in one fiscal year what makes him think Nigerians can make all the sacrifices in one fiscal year. This is an evidence that presidend Jonathan has very bad advisers.Who only relish in what they gain from their office.
Jonathan should sit up or...
