What The Creator Of Nigeria Lord Lugard Said About His Creation by Ogbonaikenna(m): 12:21pm On May 23, 2012
WHAT THE CREATOR OF NIGERIA
LORD LUGARD SAID ABOUT HIS
CREATION
"In character and temperament,
the typical African of this race-
type is a happy, thriftless,
excitable person. LACKING IN
SELF-CONTROL, DISCIPLINE, AND
FORESIGHT. Naturally courageous,
and naturally courteous and
polite, full of personal vanity, with
little sense of veracity, fond of
music and loving weapons as an
oriental loves jewelry. HIS
THOUGHTS ARE CONCENTRATED ON
THE EVENTS AND FEELINGS OF THE
MOMENT, and he suffers little
from the apprehension for the
future, or grief for the past. His
mind is far nearer to the animal
world than that of the European
or Asiatic, and exhibits
something of the animals’
placidity and want of desire to
rise beyond the State he has
reached. Through the ages THE
AFRICAN APPEARS TO HAVE
EVOLVED NO ORGANIZED
RELIGIOUS CREED, and though
some tribes appear to believe in
a deity, the religious sense
seldom rises above pantheistic
animalism and seems more often
to take the form of a vague
dread of the supernatural"
“HE LACKS THE POWER OF
ORGANIZATION, and is
conspicuously deficient in the
management and control alike of
men or business. HE LOVES THE
DISPLAY OF POWER, but fails to
realize its responsibility... he will
work hard with a less incentive
than most races. He has the
courage of the fighting animal,
an instinct rather than a moral
virtue... In brief, the virtues and
defects of this race-type are
those of attractive children,
whose confidence when it is
won is given ungrudgingly as to
an older and wiser superior and
without envy...Perhaps the two
traits which have impressed me
as those most characteristic of
the African native are HIS LACK OF
APPREHENSION AND HIS LACK OF
ABILITY TO VISUALIZE THE
FUTURE."
---Lord Frederick John Dealty
Lugard, The Dual Mandate, pg.70
(1926)
This is wonderful insight the
creator of Nigeria Lord Luggard
gave about the inhabitants of his
creation. In plain language it
means that anybody who
subscribes to or believes in the
notion of One Nigeria created by
this very man has a reasoning
capacity equal to or slightly
superior to that of a wild animal.
The creator of One Nigeria Lord
Luggard is 100% right in his
assessment of your average
Nigerian.
Nowhere in the history of
mankind has a single individual
and his lover created a country
out of existing ancient societies
and the same people grew up to
accept it. Only in Nigeria are
people so seduced by money-
from crude oil sales and the need
to acquire vacuous self
importance that they are
prepared to abandon every
shred of reason that makes them
human to perpetuate what is in
effect a regressive uncultured
primitive society such as Nigeria;
where no aspect of human
existence is practiced to any
reasonable or acceptable
standard. Not many One
Nigerians know that modern
nation states are founded not
created.
As Tunde Fagbenle observed,
those that call themselves
Nigerians should look all around
them and see how much of “self-
control, discipline, and foresight”
they possess or exhibit, be it in
their personal or public lifestyles.
What “self-control, discipline and
foresight” did Nigerian Heads of
State, Presidents and Governors
have in looting the public
treasury with abandon and
carrying their loot abroad to
benefit foreign countries, he
asks.
Umaru Diko a so called God
fearing Muslim and Minister for
Transport under President Shehu
Shagari stole well over 3billion
pound sterling in January 1984
(that is nearly £5billion in today’s
money) that belonged to every
single Nigerian and ran to
deposit the same money he stole
from poor hungry families in
Nigerian in European banks in
already affluent and wealthy
societies. Yet some
commentators and students of
African politics continue to blame
colonialism for the intellectual
backwardness of African
societies when it is the same
Africans who are busy diverting
fund meant for development in
Africa to European banks
without invitation.
No European government forced
Umaru Diko from Zaria in Nigeria
to steal money that could have
gone into the provision of health
care facilities, education, job
creation and electricity
generation from millions of
Nigerians and divert that into
European banks. He stole it
because like all believers in One
Nigeria all that matters is money
regardless of how dubious the
means of acquisition.
Ibrahim Tahir from Bauchi State
another practicing Muslim and
God fearing thieving minister
under the same Shehu Shagari as
Communications Minister stole
the entire annual
telecommunications budget
belonging to the ministry he was
tasked with running and
proceeded to burn down NITEL
tower then Nigeria
telecommunications
headquarters to cover his tracks.
He hired hoodlums to set NITEL
tower in Marina Lagos Island on
fire to destroy the paper trail of
his criminality. Many innocent
souls, most of them workers in
the building lost their lives to the
fire that Ibrahim Tahir started.
This same murderer and thief still
had the courage to come out to
contests for the office of the
president of Nigeria. Some
segments of the Nigerian media
still referred to him as a
prominent Nigerian until his
death. What a country.
These types of brazen criminality
can only happen in a primitive,
backward and uncivilised African
society such as Nigeria. The same
thief Umaru Diko whose
criminality made it possible for
millions to die in poverty and
ignorance came back to Nigeria a
hero of the Sokoto Caliphate. In
any civilised country, Umaru Diko
would be tried and sentenced to
death for high treason or better
still lynched by a mob but not in
Nigeria. Your average One
Nigeria apologist is too cowardly
and primarily preoccupied with
complaining than understanding
that what the country needs is a
root and branch overhaul of a
decaying system either through a
peaceful revolution or civil
disobedience.
According to Lord Lugard, an
average Nigerian has his or her
thoughts “concentrated on the
events and feelings of the
moment” and “lack of ability to
visualize the future”. This is true
of those who say they are
reasonable but yet vote for or
allow certified criminals to be
elected into office when
everyone knows that the
outcome will be more stealing of
public money and
impoverishment of the masses.
Instead of mass revolutions and
revolt, the public have instead
been fooled into thinking that
the cursed edifice called One
Nigeria is unbreakable. If the
great Soviet Union can crumble,
Yugoslavia, Kosovo from Serbia,
East Timor from Indonesia,
Eritrea from Ethiopia, Czech and
Slovenia from Czechoslovakia,
South Sudan from Sudan and
perhaps very shortly Scotland
from United Kingdom, what is
Nigeria that it should not be
allowed to return to how it was
before Lord Lugard the God of
One Nigerians created them.
Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief
Obafemi Awolowo, Sir Ahmadu
Bello and the rest of those that
fought for their relevance whilst
masquerading as nationalists
exhibited the same limited
understanding and grasp of the
fundamentals of state creation as
does your average Nigerian
today. They too “concentrated on
the events and feelings of the
moment” and lacked the ability
to visualize the future. The ability
to anticipate future political
trends is known as value
judgment. If at all these men
were educated as we were led to
believe they were, why on earth
did they buy into the One Nigeria
project knowing full well that
Igbo and Hausa/Fulani societies
are ideologically, philosophically
and culturally irreconcilable
which led to the massacre of
Igbos in Northern Nigeria in
1945 and 1958? Every viable
nation has an over arching value
system and not a mishmash or
aggregation of various systems
that amount to chaos such as the
world is witnessing in Nigeria
today.
Had these men been acquainted
with contemporary history or
demonstrated a willingness to
learn from history, the Indian
sub-continent should have
presented them a template on
how to disengage from an
earthly creator. Pakistani leaders
realised and acted upon the need
to separate Islamic Pakistan from
predominantly Hindu India at
independence in 1958 because
these leaders were educated
enough to realise that you
cannot compel two diametrically
opposed value systems to coexist
in a single country. Although
Pandit Nehru, Abdul Kalam Azad
and Mohammed Ali Jinnah all
campaigned to free Indian sub-
continent from colonial rule as
Nigerian nationalists claim they
did in Nigeria, they nonetheless
realised that Hindus and Muslims
cannot live in peace in one
country and proceeded to go
their separate ways.
The same Great Britain that
created Nigeria is a member of
the European Union that has
steadfastly refused to grant
Islamic Turkey entry into the
European family of nations for no
other reason than the fact that
both Turkey and Western Europe
societies have divergent or
different value systems. If an
open, tolerant and democratic
Islamic country like Turkey is not
good for the EU why should
Feudal Islamic Hausa/Fulani’s be
forced into the same country
with Christian Igbos of Southern
Nigerian?
Again the answer can be found
in what Lord Lugard the creator
of Nigeria said about Nigerians,
“HE LOVES THE DISPLAY OF POWER,
but fails to realize its
responsibility...” This
characterises the so-called
nationalist leaders of Nigeria
who sought and acquired power
but did not realise the
responsibility that came with it.
As far back as 1926, Lord Lugard
predicted the Nigeria of Azikiwe,
Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello
which everyone is suffering
today apart from the criminal
few that continue to steal, kill
and pillage with impunity.
If not for One Nigeria there will
no Boko Haram. Political
repression in Nigeria gave rise to
Boko Haram. One Nigerians
should allow the emergence of
an Islamic Arewa nation in
Hausa/Fulani lands in Northern
Nigeria to govern themselves
according to Islamic law should
they wish to do so. The
continued senseless slaughter of
Igbos and other Christian
minorities in Northern Nigeria
will stop if ordinary Nigerians
can have the courage to demand
a restructuring of the country.
Every victim of Boko Haram,
kidnapping, state sponsored
killings by Nigerian security
agencies, unemployment, road
accident victims, terminally ill and
diseased patients, no electricity,
no education, lack of good roads;
lack of decent schools, lack of
hospitals, hunger and crippling
poverty all owe their misfortune
to One Nigeria.
Who knows one day One
Nigerians will start the formal
worshipping of Lord Lugard as a
deity and that too won’t be a
surprise in a land of educated
but unintelligent people.
The basis of One Nigeria you
have today is crude oil. Remove
crude oil from the equation and
every nationality will retreat to
their domain.
