King-Eze/Igwe/Obi is a title given to traditional rulers in Igboland. His Royal Highness or Igwe can be used to address such persons. These traditional rulers are highly respected. They are the eyes of the government in their domains. They are the bridge between the government and their towns or villages. Kings have been in existence in Igbo lands but not fully recognised by the government until after the 70's. |

The essence of Ichi Eze (king making) was/is to disseminate government plans to the grassroots.

In King making in various parts of Ala Igbo, there is always a committe to be set up after the town's general meeting. The mandate of this committe will be to call series of meetings. This will be followed by nomination of Ezes and after that the voting. Anyone that emerges winner stands as ERze-elect such a person must posses the following attributes and qualities: truth, obedience to customs and traditions, trustworthy and crime free record. English education is needed but not much because Ndigbo were not born and bred in The U.K or U.S. English may be needed because of some international traditional conferences. Ndigbo, please tell us about king making in Igbo lands or in your particular Igbo community. |

In Igbo culture, king makers stand different from Eze. They are powerful because they produce the Eze. They also have the powe to to denounce him. But an Eze may have unlimited powers over everybody in the community if he is doing the right thing according to the constitution given to him by the kingmakers and the community.

In my Isinweke community, in the event of death of an Eze, no replacement is made until after one year. Only coronated persons and especially the cabinet chiefs are allowed to carryout such burials. Chiefs are also accorded such respects. |

As I earlier mentioned, there is always a meaning to what garments and other fittings worn by NDIGBO. THE RED CAPS OR CROWS- Struggles of the father or the Igbomen to cater for the families and the community. The eagle white feather (abuba ugo). The neck bead, the hand bead cow tail hand fan. To be discussed when Nairaland Ndigbo come back from work.
